As much as I'd love to see vauxhall lose and fail miserably, as much as I dislike the team, as much as the mechanics told me to "go home" when they saw me in my seat t-shirt, I'd hate to see Vauxhall leave the btcc. People who don't recognise what Seat have given the btcc shouldn't bother watching it at all.

As much as I wanted Plato to finish higher up the order, and a battle to the very end, Gio thoroughly deserved the win.
I can't believe that Vauxhall boss (I forget his name) was whining earlier in the season about Seat being better and they should be penalised for their speed, and yet they still win everything. You didn't see Gio complaining, becasue he's the good sportsman.
Here's hoping next year Plato will be back with a new manufacturer to have another go. I still believe Jason can beat him!

If Jason is back with a new manufacturer next year then i doubt the car will be up the front straight away. The only reason that the SEAT was always up the front was because it had been used in WTCC / ETCC before it came to Britain.

everyone is allowed their opinion and that is mine, also i dont "hate" jason plato, i'm just not that keen on the man as in 9 out of 10 cases; an incident that involves him isnt his fault in his view, and i just prefer vauxhall to seat. and the whole team tactics at the end was just needless, he was never going to get fourth, the BMW's were way ahead, so it just pointless. but i did like your use of language in your comment, especially the spitting poison part.

My sentiments exactly. On all points. If Mr Harrison thinks SEAT were so much better than him over the season given how VXR themselves did I would love to see how much better SEAT would do if VXR were having a poor season.
I too hope Jase get's a drive with a new factory - ideally a big German marque like Audi, Mercedes or BMW. Because when I supported the team I supported everything about them. Including Jase. But there was three fans in me. The fan of the marque, the fan of the team and the fan of the drivers. From next season the three will go separate ways. The marque fan will always back a SEAT team, but the Jase fan goes where Jase goes. And if Jase goes to the new factory - if one comes in - I will back them too.

Fluke is the name given to a parasite so I have somewhat of an appropriate double meaning but "flukey" means success by accident.

They seem to be the kind who wont give up until everybody agree's with them!
But what about you? I mean you seem to think it is great that Giovanardi has strolled this series since the start of last season. You seem to think it is great that nobody seems to be able to compete with him. That he is out on his own as the sole runaway top driver time after time. Both on a race-by-race basis and season-by-season basis. You seem to think we should agree with that ideology.
Well, I am sorry but for me it may be great for the profile of the series that it has a great worldclass driver and a great worldclass team running, but in the interest of keeping this series an equally competitive one all the way down the field I don't think it is great.
To be honest I hope volvo take the place, and plato gets a drive with them, that will keep the Gio/plato rival going :D
As you know a guy from Honda was talking to ITV4 earlier. I hope if it ain't Volvo it ain't Honda. I would like a bigger and more attractive marque for Jase to go to. Like Audi with an A4.

Serious GioFan, your comments are starting to become unwelcome here. Every time a SEAT car is involved in a "racing incident" (which this one was), you start mouthing off and acting like they should be lined up and shot. Either engage your brain before you post, or just stop posting all together.

I think if there was a BMW works team, it would suit him more seeing as thats what he's been driving for the past couple of years and is used to. However, I don't think he'd instantly say no if a new FWD works team came knocking, nor instantly yes either as he does work exceptionally well at WSR (before his Vauxhall days and now).

I agree there but if WSR offered him a new contract i think he would snap it up. But also if BMW were to enter a works team i think he'd definately go for it as they'd be using brand new cars. Instead of 1 year old ex-WTCC machinery.

Definitely. WSR will certainly want to keep him as their main driver, and Turks would certainly have no hesitation in staying. Just seeing what other options could arise before he ties himself down and out of contention for works drives. Or maybe WSR are in talks to become a works team, and he's waiting to see how that progresses.

He's certainly improving, and I honestly couldn't predict if he'll stay or go back to open wheel. Personally I'd like to see him return to open wheel, because as a driver, I think he's more suited to open wheel racing. If he stays though, I wouldn't be disappointed as it's another driver on the grid and he's certainly getting better, but he needs to make a bit of a leap in performance for next season if he stays.

Yes but WSR have had RAC as their main backer for a while now, and they're not some small company really are they? It just depends who'd drive for them next year wether a sponser would keep doing that i would have thought. I mean, if Jason Plato was driving, if they had any sense, of course they should keep sponsering him, independant or not.

vwell then, just got back from what i can only say was the most exctiting, action packed weekend of BTCC i can remember for a long time. I havent read through this 14 page topic yet to see whats been debated and discussed so as its late am going to say what i think about drivers and their performances etc and then read it propely when ive had some sleep.
Well, weather was superb (got a kick ass sunburn :) ) and that just made for nice day. Huge crowd was brilliant, all in RAC hats carrying Vauxhall flags and holding Seat Bags (who do they actually support?? :) ) Support races were dull really but lets not get on about that as the main events, the BTCC were superb. Gio v Plato turned out to be a right anti climax, but still I wasn’t concentrating on that :) I will give my views driver by driver of the ones i have something to say about.
Mat Jackson
Well, well, well, where do I begin. . . Stunning, Amazing, Superb, Brilliant, I don’t know the words to describe his driving today. Race 1 was a good win, took control and only got caught towards the end when he backed off. Race 2 a better win, full ballast but pulled away the same. Race 3, he knew what he had to do and everyone was cheering him on. His car control to keep it on the tarmac at paddock when everyone else was slip and sliding on the oil was superb and got him a much deserved and rather surprising second in the championship. Shame he didn’t win independents but then I never really thought he would. Next season could be brilliant for Jackson, champion??? :)
Jason Plato
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha, what a shame!!! Couldn’t have happened to a better guy. A bit harsh maybe, but I just don’t like the guy and am delighted he slipped to third. The old Seat reliability woes returned and he didn’t have any pace all weekend. Race 3 everyone expected him to go through the field and he just didn’t have the speed to pass anyone.
Tom Chilton
Hope he has gone and proved some of his doubters wrong, a strong drive in race 3, kept the car on the track and out of trouble and deserved his victory. This after being one of the fastest in free practice 1 and 2, and would have got top 2 in qualifying had it not been for broken damper!
Erkut Kizilirmak
Shame about the Astra Coupe, felt privileged to watch his two laps in full before it duly broke. Then race 3, whats a brilliant piece of thinking, dumping oil around half the track :) That caused such mayhem, lucking Mat J survived.
John George
What a shunt. Hope they guys alright, that car took one hell of a beating, Was it caused by Plato or Turner??
Dan Eaves
What a nice guy. Met him during there little meet and greet session and he was such a great guy, had a long chat with him, about how Jackson would match his record of three wins in a day ;) and the plans for next year etc. Hope he manages to get on the grid and hope he does well as hes a good guy, always has time for the fans and ive always liked him from his Halfords days.
Motorbase - Kane and Collard
Great pace showed by both drivers and another 3 hugely deserved podiums.
Fabrizio Giovanardi
Have to mention this guy don’t I. A shocking weekend in all honestly, but fortunately Plato had a dodgy weekend too. He deserves to be champion, no one can deny it and this probably wont be the last title he wins in the BTCC.

Been back about 1/2 hour. Very tired now.
Laura: Yes the fans trophy presentation went very well, Mat was indeed impressed with the Fans Trophy, We joked that it might even be better than the usual BTCC one. ;) Tony and Paula his parents were also lovely.
I've also popped up on TV just when Ted is doing his piece to camera just after I've had my picture taken with JP's grid girl.
Russ and I did two grid walks today and watched the first race from the Mat J garage, which was great fun. So my thanks to Carl McKellar for arranging everything today.
Thanks also to the fans who've paid money towards the fans trophy, I believe that Mat really appreciated the fact that it was paid for out of our own pockets.
Also met Nick Leason today, though I didn't get long to talk to him.
Well done to the Malvern Touring Boys for handing out 5,000 Sunshine.co.uk bags during the pitlane walkabout, nothing comes for free eh boys?
Highlight of the day? Hmm, there are so many I can't pick one...Probably when Carl McKellar says to me "We could get our photographer to take a picture of you with JPs car" I was in my element.
Congratulations to Tim Harvey, that win is highly deserved!

I would just like to say..
Werent Team 48 Fantastic this year..
Crikey i didnt think anybody would catch up with them. They ran laps round everyone.. Not even the diesel Seats were any Match..
I think that Matthew Gore is the future of BTCC, Watch this space :)

As ted mentioned on ITV, can't Northen South run the cars even without seat support? I'm sure they'd do a decent job. If not, could somebody buy those 2 cars?
But I also mentioned it somewhere on here and probably before he did. Either here on another forum I am a member of. I am sure. It just seems that you ignored mine and only acknowleded his.:(
I said that WSR did it for about three years with the MG ZS after the collapse of MG. With Reidy and Turks in 2004 where Reidy took the Independents title, with Collard in 2005 and in 2006 with Turks and Collard.
They are still an Independent but they run BMW 320si's.

Sorry but this is a big forum. I can't be in every topic all the time. ;)
Would be nice to see though.
