"The BBC has finalised its team of presenters for its coverage of Formula 1 from next year, it has been claimed, with Martin Brundle and David Coulthard on the bill – but no James Allen, Steve Rider or Mark Blundell.

With the Beeb set to reclaim the rights to broadcast the world's most expensive sport from ITV in 2009 – on a five-year contract – it has been revealed by Pitpass that the presenting team will be composed of ITV-F1 favourite Brundle alongside BBC Radio Five Live stalwart Jonathan Legard in the commentary booth, soon-to-retire Red Bull Racing ace Coulthard and Jake Humphrey fronting the programme in the studio and Lee McKenzie reprising the roles of Louise Goodman and Ted Kravitz as pit-lane reporter."

Looks like Coulthard is taking a step from the car to the studio :D

Woo! They've kept Martin! Love his grid walks!

Never was keen on Steve Rider, could never hold his mic properly.

I'm not surprised they kept Martin Brundle, although I'm a little surprised at them choosing not to keep Mark Blundell. I've never thought Steve Rider was particular comfortable presenting F1, personally I thought Jim Rosental did a better job. I know its controversiol but I'd have liked to see James Allen stay as well, even if his facts were a little too much sometimes he certainly knew his stuff.

We needed Charlie Cox lol. At least we have Martin still.

I think James Allen makes a good commentator.

I'm glad brundle has been kept on, and i'm glad Coulthard has a role. At least we'll get unfavoured well presented post race analysis by DC.

I think we should have a red button for the GP to have Jeremy Clarkson doing his own take on the commentary - now that would be funny

That sounds great - I always like Martin's commentary, and I'm sure DC will bring some humour and outspokenness to the proceedings ;) .

they should have kept ted and louise- in fact everything should have been the same- just with the addition of DC.- a bit of consistency does help!!!

(what are we going to moan about if james allen is gone!!!!!:D :D )

but i loved louise and her chemistry with DC would have been amazing- but you cant have everytying.

bit concerned about these 'new' people joining the team- who is lee mackensie??

Lee Mackenzie is the Daughter of Journalist Bob Mackenzie. She currently works as a pitlane reporter on Sky's A1gp coverage.

If this is true, I do think its a shame Louise Goodman has not been kept on. She seems to get on well with the drivers and able get that tricky "I just crashed out" or "my car's broken" interview. :(

I think there would have been national strike days had Martin Brundle not been kept on! :D

DC could be a great addition. The rest of the names are unknown to me.

Look forward to the official announcement, which at a guess will come after the last race of the season?

There will never be a commentary team like Walker and Hunt,i grew up listening to those two on BBC2 when all you got was half an hour of race highlights,in fact it;s what got me started on motorsport!

Brundle and Coulthard will make a fine pairing with thier knowledge of F1 from a drivers perspective,as for the others,it remains to be heard how good they are really!

At least this spells and end to the flaming ad breaks, just a a race is getting interesting!

Its guna be strange watching it wihout the ads - I'm sick of drinkin coffee on a sunday afternoon. Hopefully we'll now get to see proper post race interviews and more in depth analysis - thats one thing ITV have seriously lacked this year.
Now there no Steve Ryder, who's going to mollycuddle Hamilton after qualifying on a saturday?
Are we going to get more interviews with all the drivers instead of 1 driver?

i cannot wait for this ... no more adverts (absolute bliss!) this now means that i won't have the worry of the race coming back on after the adverts and being absolutely petrified that i've missed something as this happens to me every single time.
as for the commentary ... mr david coulthard (wow), i have no patience, i want to hear him now. i think he is going to be great what with his on track experience and everything, plus paired with brundle - genius!

...and to 603270466, beware of this comment you made: 'Now there no Steve Ryder, who's going to mollycuddle Hamilton after qualifying on a saturday? Are we going to get more interviews with all the drivers instead of 1 driver?' - look what happened to me. you are brave. :)

I have nothing against hamilton and I am a fan of his, but there are 19 other drivers in F1 that just don't get the time of day on telly.
F1 is a 20 man show and everybody deserves at least equal time in interviews and race coverage aswell.

As much as I support Hamilton and enjoy listening to his perspective on a race weekend, i would just like to hear the perspective views of other drivers and find out more about their lifestyles, careers and how their season is going on a frequent basis

It aint a spat at all. Just my point of view.

All I want is for the beeb to get it right, and give a good show to the fans watching at home

ah i didn't mean it to sound like we'd get in a spat - i meant in general as you know what others are like on here.
if the beeb don't get it right, they'll lose viewers, simple as. it won't be long before more and more people get sick of the coverage of one driver/one team.
steve rider and mark blundell are the prime example here as they only spend their time outside the mclaren garage - 'hello' there's another 10 teams or so. poor heikki though doesn't get a look in :)
i do hope the beeb get it right though - hopefully they've learnt from itv's bad habits!

I know chuck.

I'm hoping it will be a different format and a completely fresh view on the life inside F1. Theres no reason why we can't see 10-15 million people tuning in.

However, the BBC must get it right, otherwise we could end up with the risk of losing the freeview races and having to pay a lot of hard earned cash to watch the races on pay per view or something like that

Honestly, I think Walker is the most Overrated Commentator of all time.

I didnt find his mistakes funny, Just annoying.

I'd rather they took people like Brundle who knows what his Talking about -.-

apart from it the most boring form of motorsport around at the moment. I seen lawnmower racing (at the pirelli rally) that was more interesting than a F1 procession.

All people seen to talk about is the commentators for next seaso but really unless there is something doen to make closer racing with overtaking then it only going further down the hill.

Very pleased about Martin staying, I am disappointed it looks like Louise won't be moving to the BBC with him as she does seem to get to the drivers who are out the race rather quickly.

I don't have an opinion either way on Steve Ryder or Mark Blundell, it would be good if ITV moved Steve over to the BTCC to replace Ted. I just pray that they don't turn the BTCC into the Teddy (Kravitz) and James (Allen) show.

Although I am not a fan of Ted's apparent lack of effort with the BTCC coverage - he does seem very good with the F1 coverage and what he feeds back from the pits. James Allen is definitely not my cuppa tea, but at the same time I hope he manages to stay in F1 somewhere (as long as it isn't the commentary box), as he obviously has a passion for it.

DC was a good signing by the BBC, I'm not that clued up on the rest of the new team, but Jake seemed ok on the Olympics coverage (remains to be seen what he will be like on F1) and Lee has been fine on the A1GP - so I think she will be of the same standard as Louise.

I think ITV have done a good job overall and have given us half-decent coverage. We could have had it a lot worse (has anyone ever had the joy of listening to the IndyCar commentary on Sky Sports - that really is truly shocking - the race commentators and the pit reporters are about as interesting as an ingrowing toenail, they can't even tell you who is driving or anything, its always "and here comes a green car up the straight, not sure who it is, oh its mr x, actually no its mr y, I hear their great aunt patty is in the crowd today down at turn 11, so hello to her" - you have to hear it to believe how boring they are. Indycar are a prime example of how to muck the commentary up, the Champcar team on Eurosport were very good I thought, it was a crime Jeremy Shaw was not taken on for the International Indycar feed and we get Dumb and Dumber and their friends instead.

Jake Humphrey . . . . NOOOOOOOOOO!

Whenever he has done any sport coverage in the past he has shown a complete lack of knowledge in the sport and he would be useless as an anchor for F1.

Ted should stay with F1 as he does a good job in the pits getting the required information, its just he isnt a presenter.

In fairness he was very good at the Superbowl.

But I ask again, where is this all confirmed by the BBC? I really can't find anything "official".

After all this wouldn't it be funny if Beeb announced the sum total of their coverage to be a half hour highlights show.............no didn't think so lol

Seriously though, I'd like:

Jim Rosenthal fronting the show (not gonna happen tho, and Jake Humphries.....just no)

Maurice Hamilton in the "pundit/Mark Blundell" Role

Martin Brundle in the Lead commentator role with James Allen (I think he gets a lot of undue stick imo)

If JA is not in favour at the Beeb then anyone who is passionate and knowledgeable on F1 (but not Damon Hill, his commentary on the Hungarian GP's haven't been that great)

I'm always really suprised at the amount of people who'd like Jim Rosenthal. When he first did it in 1997 it was obvious he didn't have a clue what he was talking about and I thought he never got much better.
