Just race!
10th Oct 2008, 06:53 AM
OK, I know the oil has hardly dried on Paddock Bend, but have just been on to Dukes website (I've just finished a night shift!) and see that they are promoting the season review dvd. 3 hours on two discs at £19.99. No release date yet though.
May help relieve the end of season DT's!!

Is it really worth putting 3 hours on 2 discs?
Especially when 1 disc can hold 3 hours worth

It makes me wonder, Why put the 49th season on 2 discs and make it 7 hours long in total. But only put the 50th season on 2 discs, But only make it 3 hours long

aylesburyape

Last years DVD was awful! 7 hours long but just the same as if you would have recorded the highlights and put them onto a disc. Almost no interviews, insights, post race reactions or any narrative through it. Just a badly put together cut and paste job. 3 hours with a proper production would be much better and watchable, like past DVDs and videos back through the years.

But there only 7 hours, if you wanted interviews, insights, post race reactions etc it would take 10 minutes or so time per race, which would take 300 minutes of time from the DVD, so we would ony have 2 hours or so race footage. Surely you want more race footage than random rubbish in between, i know i do!

aylesburyape
10th Oct 2008, 11:01 PM
Interviews and reactions arent rubbish! I want to see the characters in the game off the track to show their personality and faces. You could comfortably edit the races to 5-10 minute highlites depending on the action to cover all incidents and overtaking. For replay value too long can be a bore for what you've already seen. Check out the well put together videos from the 90s to see what I mean.

They used to do that and people always slated it. I would prefer to watch pure racing action and remember the great racing we have had than watch back interviews I have already seen and that wont interest me in the future.

In the grandprix legends christmas catologue they obviously did not have the correct artwork for the front cover so that have pasted a pic of Gio's car on what looks to be the 2004 season review and have not even changed the title sponsors or the lengh of the DVD (says its only 180 mins!!)

Should think you will get it at the autosport show this year becca. Last year from the duke stall they had lots of BTCC DVD's and VHS. I managed to get a copy of the 1992 season on VHS along with 1994 as well but they had a oretty good selection.

The only mistake I found was when they introduced Micky Doyle in the driver intros!

But it seems most people didn't hear it! :D

Anyway a very good dvd, well worth having.

JonA
27th Nov 2008, 04:26 AM
There''s a marginal improvement in the area of interviews too. Sure - we've seem them already as they're lifted straight from the ITV coverage but then the whole set is straight from the ITV feed and there's no "exclusive to the DVD" footage like you get on the F1 Review DVDs of recent years.

But beggars can't be choosers and it is one of the better review DVDs.

Hi David,

I used to get this complaint quite frequently when I worked in retail. It usually means that as your PS3 is possibly more newer than the dvd player it will be able to read the dvd okay.

Not necessarily a faulty dvd. :)

Hi David,

I used to get this complaint quite frequently when I worked in retail. It usually means that as your PS3 is possibly more newer than the dvd player it will be able to read the dvd okay.

Not necessarily a faulty dvd. :)

Ah cool nice one. Thanks for that Kez. Well at least it works fine on my PS3, that's the main thing :)
