Ron Dennis will step down from his F1 role from 1 March 2009, with Martin Whitmarsh taking over. I never, ever thought I would see the day when Ron would be leading McLaren. I'm slightly stunned...

This was rumoured last year, so its not a huge surprise.
I somehow think he will end up like Jean Todt and still be at the races in the background.
Hope the team continues its success in new hands in these changing technical times for F1.

Martin Whitmarsh has been gradually taking over from Ron Dennis for a couple of years now... Martin is definatly ready to take on the role, and lead McLaren on from Ron's success......
I wish Martin all the very best of luck, and I would also like to thank Ron Dennis for his long term participation in the sport, and also i'd like to wish him all the very best for the future....

he won't be leaving the sport.... he says McLaren will get his input whether they like it or not.
He sounds a really nice bloke and I hope he enjoys the next phase in his life
