I hear that the BMW's running a sequential gearbox will get a 20kg weight reduction in 2009. If this happens then I think the other teams will have a harder battle on their hands.
Good news for the teams that used an H pattern box last year.

Read this elsewhere too.
If correct, I would imagine Motorbase will stick with the sequential box. Given how well they went last season, they could only improve even further, if they lose 20kg of the 30kg sequential box "penalty"

havent read about this else where so i mite be of on a tangent here, last year the beemer with seq box had to carry an extra 30kg above btcc base weight, so does this mean that this year they will in fact be running at base weight plus 10kg. beemers with H pattern (jackson, team rac) were able to run cars at btcc base. if there is only a 10kg penalty for the seq perhaps wsr and jackson may do their sums and see if having the extra cog that comes in the sequential box is worth having. team rac have run a full season with each box i believe jackson has used the H pattern only

Yup, according to the article base plus 10kg instead of 30kg.
I think you are right about WSR / Jacksons use of 'boxes as well. If this does turn out to be true it will be interesting to see if either switch to the sequential box for this year. I guess however with everything at the moment money will do the talking.

wsr have the squential boxes already they ran them during their bmw bebut season and switched at the start of last year because of the weight penalty.
