Does anyone know if Plato and RML can battle for the Constructors championship. As i understand its for teams who developed there cars from scratch, when RML developed the Lacetti.

Plato vs Neal or GIo
RML vs 888
Chevy vs Vauxhall

Great prospects

Can't Wait till Sunday!

Not sure on the Constructors championship, but can see they are listed as an independent in the entry list.

Nope, they are labelled as an independent team in the entry list, so will not be eligible for the Manufacturer/Constructors championship.
Now that the championship has been extended to cover teams that build their own cars it is possible to be both a constructor and an independent - Dynamics and Arena are.

Im certain that GM are not into the flagship brand competing against the budget brand on an official basis.

Hence the emphasis on it being an Independant entry.

Well got it from the big boss him self. Its up to RML. The car / team is eligable if they choose but they need to decide before the start of championship.

Well Alan Gow says its possibly, and its RML's decision not GM's. Why would they be against it, would be good having there 2 brands fighting it out on a big stage, will increase publicity. Why do you think they would be so against it?

Just trust me and take my word for it.

Why ?......surely there are customers who say vauxhall are s*** and vice versa.

If you but Audi does that mean you like Skoda ? All manafactures are linked in one or another and i still say the more of my products on show the better.

Roll on brands Hatch

Well Alan Gow says its possibly, and its RML's decision not GM's.
It may be RML who tell Alan Gow if they want to enter but there will be pressure from GM/Chevy on RML to make the right decision.

From what I have read about the 'Constructors' championship, is for some strange reason, it is voluntary??? Teams that have the resources to construct their own race cars have the 'choice' to enter that category?

I can't see why they would want to, when they can stay as an independant?

I thought the idea was to seperate the 'Construtors' from the true 'Independants' giving the smaller teams a chance of a trophy?

I obviously had it wrong?

They can be in the constructors championship as well as the independants championship.

They can be in the constructors championship as well as the independants championship.

I know, I did say that!

I am just questioning WHY it is optional?

I see your point. Throwing pure Independents within the framework of the Works teams Championship on the basis they too have the means and manpower to build their own cars seems not right.

I think, and this is just a suggestion, perhaps we have put Constructors and Manufacturers in the same meaning for a while. Maybe a "Constructor" has a wider range of meaning than a Manufacturer. A "Constructor" in a meaning I would have it is simply ANYONE who has the means to construct cars. Doesn't mean they have to be soley a factory like say Vauxhall, SEAT, BMW, Chevrolet or whoever.

Maybes it is time, and again this is just a simple and honest suggestion, to separate Manufacturers and Constructors within the confines of the BTCC and establish a Manufacturers Championship for just works teams and a Constructors Championship for everyone who has the ability to make cars.

I think a lot of people will say "it is just another title to hand VXR" but the Constructors may not necessarily include factories.
