Good piccies, but one suggestion - try and zoom in more so that you fill the frame with yuor subject.

i can see why you have that forum name as all your pics too be over red too what i seen from others. At first i wasnt going too comment as i thought you was using a starter camera like a D40 etc (i know i not using much better but that a good starter camera) but i now see you use a D700 and think the pics are a little poor for someone using a camera like that.

TBH compared too the first time i used a DSLR they are really good, sadly from now on it all a struggle to take the pics that you feel happy with as the camera used isnt an excuse as a good picture is a good picture on any camera. It just time to get out practicing and get a feel for settings that work best for you.

not really had a look thorugh your galleries as it just seems you upload every pic you take so too many pics too go through (mine are quite bulky tbh but i delete over half i take) and see alot of part car pics are on there which i think dont work apart from the odd occasion.

tend to agree whole with those comments self editing a days snapping takes a bitta time but it make it a bit easier for the viewer. i tend to keyword each pic with a drivers name or make of car and then pick the better ones for each to upload. over the weekend i shot 600 images saved 330ish uploaded maybe 30

TBH i dont do anything other than delete the blurred or missed shots (i shoot in jpeg but as you need to spend all that time i take it you use raw) over the weekend took around 1900 of which 800 was left after a quick scan through so when i run them through the image convertor (to shrink the file size) they are only around 60mb so upload them all.

That's rather ironic, complain that someone had uploaded every picture they took when you've uploaded 800 pics yourself. What I notice with yours is that you seem to take the same shot again and again. Almost every picture on the first 12 pages is virtually identical - same shot but with a different car.

At least you take the do some reviewing. One of my pet hates is people who take eleventy million and simply upload the lot without any thought.

thanks for the comments guys, I guess I do need to a) delete more of the duplicted shots b) be more judicial and delete more shots

my workflow tends to be -
1/ download memory cards to PC
2/ move images to relevant folders
3/ create web thumbnails in batch using Irfanview, little bit of sharpening
4/ adjust levels in batch with Photoshop
5/ keyword images
6/ upload!

bigred
7th Apr 2009, 11:56 AM
if you "keyword" after download then the folder shifting etc is a lot easier

i tend to download - keyword-sort-grade-edit-batch convert to jpg-upload

What an interesting debate about different methods of photo management. :)

Valorient: The ones on my Facebook are more personal (mostly of other forumers) so they are more for the forum members that are on Facebook. :)

That's a little harsh!

I think a couple of them are over saturated, maybe tone down the colours a tad in your pp. One or too fill the frame a little too much.

Other than that, I think they're pretty good! Mind you bigred, if you'd like to swap your full frame D700 for a D90 and a little extra reach, let me know ;) :D

I'll have mine up around the end of the week for ripping my own technique to pieces :D

I also shoot in raw (good job too - from a quick look through I've over exposed a little!) so it'll take a while to process them. I also know I need at least 400mm if I want to shoot from Clearways again. Anyone got a spare £6k to donate to my Nikon fund? ;)

the saturation is set for printing as my monitor is calibrated to the printer so it does look a little redder on my laptop than on my main pc screen. as for filling the frame most of the pics are cropped that way as thats how i prefer them.

as i took almost 2000 uploading 800 isnt that bad really, as for them looking the same that was because i was just taking alot of panning shots, using different shutter speeds and iso settings, so i can get some printed ready for signing at later rounds.

Sorry we didn't get a chance to speak, I seemed to be rushing around all weekend.
I will have to fit a pedometer to see how many miles I walk in a weekend

Lanzorote vs Brands Hatch - you must have spent absolutely ages deciding over that one :-

Anyway, Ill try and make it down to BH too. Its a bit of a trek from where I am but will do my best.
