I think a bit of change is good.
Vote for one layout from each circuit.

Brands GP is probably the best, although I've yet to see racing on the new Sheene corner (ex-Dingle Dell)

Personally I have said Brands GP, Oulton Fosters, Donny GP, Silverstone International.....

But ideally I'd like a variation - when the BTCC visited those circuits twice it was good to see a different layout at each visit. Now maybe have one layout one year and another the next - eg Donny GP has been used a lot lately so its good to see Alan Gow saying he's going to use the National circuit next year.

I voted Silverstone International - because it includes the abbey hairpin which is a great overtaking opportunity.
I voted Donington National because the last chicane is great, and the cars come around quicker because it's shorter.
I voted Oulton Park Island because it gives two extra overtaking opportunities than the Foster's circuit, and the cars are out of sight for less than on the full circuit.
I voted both at Brands because we go there twice and I'd like to see a meeting on each. If we were to start visiting more tracks twice, I wouldn't want to see the same layout used twice, to give a nice bit of variation.

I must be missing something here. Over the last few year the BTCC has raced on most of these variants - so what is the discussion about? (With the exception of Brands of course, where we could race on both variants in one year).

Mind you - the SEAT Cup is racing on both versions of the Brands circuit at one meeting later this year. If they can do it why not BTCC? Or is that just a bit of a gimmick?

All the variations have pro's and con's of course, but some of the circuits do disappear of into the boondoks a bit making spectating a bit difficult.

my real point was: silverstone international has been used at the last 12 meetings at silverstone cept the Brit GP suport 96. nice as the circuit is, variation is needed. They could make the hairpin tighter by directing the cars up the GP chicane at abbey, i feel that would be good, or use the national circuit, the club straight is perfect for slipstreaming. Oulton park island has been used at the last 6 oulton meetings. again i feel variation is needed. the international circuit is better than the island circuit i feel, even if its not so good from a spectators point of view

I see your point!!

I think Silverstone is difficult - for most purposes the GP circuit is too long I would think, but the national circuit would be good - there were some good races there in the early nineties.

I do think the spectators must be considered though, which is one reason why Rockingham was so good (and think of the variations there!).

They could just not bother with Silverstone, but I don't suppose tht would be 'pc'. I wish they could shift it to the club circuit. Particularly as the tannoys at the Abbey hairpin didn't work this year. Plus it would keep the racing closer. And the view from the Woodcote stands of the cars appearing in the distance and getting closer as they come head-on down the club straight is fantastic. Donington (spelt with one 'n' in the middle) is always much better on the national circuit. You see the cars more and the racing is, nine times out of 10, much closer. Always has been around there, ever since it reopened in 1977. Brands GP is great, but the Indy circuit better for spectating. GP would be prferable IF there were big screens carefully placed within the Indy bowl for us to see what was happening out the back. Oulton: tempted to say switch to Fosters (just for the crash and bash we get down the bottom of the hill), but I'll go with Island just so we keep Cascades. It could do with its own commentator out at Island, though.

It could do with its own commentator at Lodge as well now - when they planned the new pits complex, they put the commentary box too low down and at the Old Hall end of the pits, so the run from Druids to Lodge is now completely out of sight of the new pits straight commentary box, as is part of the first corner.
