Independents Cup race winner Gareth Howell and 6 times Independent Championship winners Team Dynamics Motorsport, the most successful team to ever run in the British Touring Car Championship will make their return to the BTCC for 2003 when they appear in rounds 11 & 12 at Snetterton on the 9th August 2003.

The name Team Dynamics and the British Touring Car Championship are synonymous having competed for over thirteen years within the ukÃ*s highest profile motorsport series.

Their penultimate year has to have been in 1999 when superstar driver Matt Neal scooped £250,000 for being the first and only Independent team driver to beat the might of the manufacturer teams in race two outright in the first meeting of the season at Donington Park. The following year Team Dynamics and Matt picked u another race win at Brands Hatch, unfortunately this time the prize money was far less!

Howell, from Bromley, will be driving a Vauxhall Astra Coupe, which will be run by Team Dynamics Motorsport.

An elated Gareth, who has already competed in rounds 5 & 6 at Silverstone and spent the first 3 rounds commentating on the support races for MotorsTV, said, "Ever since Silverstone, Steve and the Team Dynamics guys have been working round the clock to get us back out. I think we showed then that we were on the pace straightaway and we both have some unfinished business in the Independents Championship. I know itÃ*s not a night race but I love the atmosphere of the evening racing on the Saturday at Snetterton. Last night race in 2001, I scored my first win in the BTCC and a second. In the Fiestas in 1999 and 2000 I finished 2nd in both races, so I canÃ*t wait.

As usual, its going to be "in at the deep end" again but IÃ*m starting to like it that way! We learnt a lot very quickly last time out and one of the things was that the Astra is a really driver friendly car. This time out though, there is not so much pressure as we know that we will be out there competing for the rest of the year and by Oulton should be back mixing it with the works teams.

Howell, 22, is a former British Karting Champion and winner in the Production class and, last year, in the Independents Cup.

Great to see both Gareth and the Team Dynamics motorsport name back in the BTCC!

Good news nice to have another car out - I am assuming its an extra car as GA/TD have just got Breeze and Wallace signed up for the second half of the season.

What exactly is the deal between GA and TD this year - the quote implies that Dynamics are making a return to the championship and theres no mention of GA - so does this mean we'll be seeing the old red livery back? :) But if they are returning then is/was there only a minimal amount of input to the GA team?

Another obvious question to ask assuming that this is an extra car which doesnt replace the GA cars - where has this other Astra come from? Thought all the ex-888 cars were already in use.

It is the ex-Chilton car which has been sat in a barn so far this year. The car is to be run by TD so it could well be in a similar style to the Primera but I guess we'll see. Not 100% sure of the fulls ins and outs of the TD/GA tie-up but I presume that GA simply hired their manpower to assist thei running of their own Astras - in the same way they used to use Janspeed.

Great news for Gareth, TD and the championship it will be good to have 1 more car on the grid (even if it is another astra!!). Good luck Gareth and enjoy the rest of the season.:D

Rob has Aaron's old car, whilst the car that went to Sweden was driven last year by Matt Neal. Tom's car from last year was owned by his father and was not sold at the end of the year... not sure if Arena would appreciate their factory being described as a barn though, as I did above... :D

Steve Neal is quoted as saying

"The most successful independent team is back and ready to kick ****!"

Lets hope they do!
