So far this the Proton has been a bit of a disapointment this year compared to last year the car has been way off the pace. Although the car had a few podiums last , over the winter people were saying that it had the potential to win a round and be a regular on the podium, how wrong they were.
Who else agrees with me
Jamie:( :(

Jamie ~ I agree with you. I hoped that this year Proton would be up there with the rest of the pack but it hasn't worked out that way which is a shame.
I don't understand the technical side of things but perhaps someone who does can give us a bit more idea of what is going on.

thought that Croft was a good weekend for them. The car seemed to be going in the right direction for once.

proton basically have 2 major problems, 1 is the Handling and front end grip of the car, its not very happy handling and 2. it always appears to be significantly worse on the brakes than any other car, i dont know why though as the brakes and systems are the same on every car, except protons front calliper is in a strnage place, this could be a reson? but it shouldnt really make any difference, or it might appear they are bad on braking as they have to slow down a lot more to get the evil handling car turned in to the apex.
Best of luck to PSP Syntium proton for 2004
At the moment its not doing there image any good, great shame as the impain is supposed to be a very suprisingly fun to drive road car.

I must agree that the Proton has been disapponiting this season, I was expecting more from them, and they did seem more on the pace at Croft, but there is only so much you can do with a car that looks as bad (not bad but ugly) as the Proton.
Dont get me wrong, I do like having the cars in the BTCC, but its just the styling could have been made better to make it look a little better. I'm not keen on the front of the car where there seems to be a part of the car missing on either side. I know that Honda had that first, but you can not notice it on the Honda. And now as I was looking at the cars in park furmay after the races at Croft it looks like the MG now also has them.
Are all the cars going to have them next year?
I'd of thought by having bodywork covering the space in front of the tyre it would make it more aerodynanic, and could even make some extra down force on the front of the car, and try to solve the front end problems of the Proton.
I hope to see the Proton in the BTCC next year, its refreshing to see brightly coloured cars on the grid, instread of the red, black and little bit of green on the Mg. (last years Attomic Kitten MG look amazing would be nice to have them back).:)

the proton does look absolutley horrid, the 3 colours on the car are just awful, sorry proton.
One thing i also notice is the pit crew arent so good at doing stops.
I dont know if anyone else has noticed but the wheel gun man seems to stand up when taking and appyling tyres which doesent really work well, the other neal on the ground.

I really like the colour scheme - lot better than white or red and white - it is really different.

Mind you - I see that Mr Bennett has been out practising again!
There is a bit in EVO magazine which says he set a new lap record recently in a production car at the Nurburgring. Went round in 7:19, taking a whole 13 seconds off the previous record.
Well done Phil!!!
Oh yes - he was driving a Radical SR3 Turbo (£48k and one is yours!).
