A) Ford don't have a touring car programme at the moment
B) They almost certainly aren't producing motorsport parts for a Mondeo.
You'll see a number of Focus's racing throughout Europe as Ford produce the right parts (suspension, engine mods etc...) for the cars. Quite simply your average team couldn't afford to develop the parts and run a team.
A good example is BMW who produce readily available racing parts for the 320 - hence the large number racing in the ETCC as well as in the Edenbridge production class cars.
In this way, the manufacturers can control what is raced at high levels. I guess Ford don't feel that they want the Mondeo marketed as a sporty car - it hardly looks it these days - where as the Focus is clearly their "sports" model.

Possibly with the amount of money that the lue oval is throwing into its other motorsport programmes, they don't want to stretch themselves too thin?

I mean how many millions are going into Jaguar AND the customer Ford F1 engines? And the World Rally Team is now starting to get results in the new Focus after an expensive development period.
