No Chevy for Gio.

On another touring car site, reckons talks have ceased and no Chevy drive for Fabrizio in the WTCC.

I wonder what he'll do now, I don't see him staying in the BTCC unless a manufacturer enters and atm that looks unlikely. What now for Gio?

sounds like it'll be the Superstars Series in Italy for him. It's such a shame he hasn't got a WTCC drive, but the reasons are that, because Seat and BMW are cutting back in the WTCC, Chevrolet don't need to expand!!

I do wish Gio all the best in finding a top drive, in a competitive series for 2010

There's an article about Giovanardi on the Autosport site, and it mentions the following:-

Fabrizio has conceded that he might have to take a sabattical next year after Chevvy decided on a line up of menu, Huff & Muller, and that his options were very few and far between.
He also mentions that he'll not rule out a campaign in the BTCC, but he then mentions that there's no manufacturer and he'll have to take a budget with him to pay for a seat.
BUT - he has said there's no way he'll retire. Mentioning tarquini's WTCC Title at the age of 48, Gio is 42, so has maybe another 10 years in him :)

Come on RAC or someone with a bit of dough - don't let Gio sit out a year, give the man a drive!!! Or even better, Come on RML, you never gave him the chance in the WTCC, keep him in the BTCC!!

They are, RAOL, who run BMW Italy/Spain are surplus to requirements, and by all accounts, BMW will have 2 cars, run by Shnitzer, one for priaulx, one for Farfus. seat are down to 3 cars, probably for Rydell, Gene & Tarquini (if he stays on) and chevvy have announced Muller, Menu & Huff. That leaves Lada :p

shnitzer ran farfus and j muller andy's car was run by bmw uk under rbm so maybe well just have to wait and see what they announce, consolidation to one team can only help with team tactics particularly in qualifying slip streaming mode
