Probaly a silly question but whats the difference between the cars of the 2 championships? I assume the main one is the cars in BTCC have championship standard parts

Not sure on the techincal side of things, but the BTCC cars have more power and are therefore faster in a straight line, the ETCC cars have more grip and can therefore corner faster.
From lap times they are not to far away from each other, but the BTCC cars do look better and sound better.
I think the ETCC cars sound like mopeds, but it is going to see how they are intergrated into the rules for next year.

ETCC cars use standard suspension, smaller brakes,4 doors, min 4.2 mtrs long. Engine..lower compression ratio, smaller valve lift, slightly larger throttle body 60 to 64 poss but probably 15 bhp less. Therefore in race condition and on same tyres approx. 1.5 to 2 secs. slower is estimated but we will have to wait and see .Donington cannot be compared as ETCC have tyre warmers and Michelin tyres, in the race the cars ran about 1.5 slower than BTCC. although as fast in qualifying.
