I'll definitely be going, considering I now live just down the road from the hosting venue! I knew there was supposed to be an advantage going to Birmingham University :p

Not this year, can't afford the £29 each for the tickets. I was lucky to get in on Media last year, no such luck this time. I'll survive though. :)

To those going have a load of fun!

that is good but for me there is the best part of £100 in petrol plus food etc, going to sillystone for britcar probably wont cost me as much as there will be a carload/busload of us to share fuel, would be sleeping in my mate's motorhome so there is only food and ale (not a lot of that as i am working lol) plus we get fed while on the job

depends on the event but usually the autosport show is free.

As a memeber of the BRSCC i get free entry to the show (if you go too the show and get the autosport the brscc membership saves you money) but the show was so poor last year i not bothering going this year.

NEC website claim the car park charge depends on what event is on but I don't think I've ever been there for any event when it's free. BTW it's £8 this year.

£29 for what is essentially a glorified trade show is taking the p***.

I agree with the last bit about being a p*** take as I wanted to go to the show but the ticket price plus car park price plus fuel prices and then food etc when you are there REALLY does take the p***.
I don't know where everyone is getting their money from as I know for a fact that I haven't got any spare after christmas so if anybody has got that sort of money just to burn then please pass some on to me please!!!

I've never been, and have always wanted to go. This year it looks more than likely that we will be there the sunday. Why is £29 a rip off? is the event boring? to me it looks good value for money...but again, i have never been so don't really know what to expect.

Depends on what you are after.

Live action arena is good if you've never seen it before but gets repetitive very quickly. The track is too small for any real racing so it becomes a succession of noise and donuts. It's pretty much the same show year after year.

Race car displays are ok if you like that sort of thing. The F1 cars are only replicas, not even real cars. Personally I'd rather go to the Festival of Speed where I can get just as close if not closer to the real thing, and she them in action.

There's the usual collection of models, pictures and other memorabilia but most stands are aimed at competitors or the trade market. I'm sure you'll get a good deal on a new helmet, racesuit or engine rebuild if you are in the market for such things, as I said this is essentially a trade show.

I have to admit I've not been since they introduced the Pistonheads section of the show so can't comment on what that has to offer.

As always, your mileage may vary

i can understand it being the same year after year, which is fair enough. So is it one of these things that are good if you've never been, then not so good afterwards cause you've seen it all pretty much before?
We come from Norwich, me and my brother have wanted to go for the past 4 years, but could never persuade the dad. Now me, my brother and boyfriend have finally persuaded dad to come along too, is it worth the hassle or wouldn't you recommend it?

If you havent been before, definetly go. Its great as something to go to every few years or so and first time its a great experience. Dont let the negativity of others change your decision, in the end were all different people and just cause they dont enjoy doesnt mean you wont. If you have wanted to go, definetly go, you will enjoy it. Ive been a few times and always enjoyed it.

If you've never been before than it's definatly worth Checking out atleast Once.

I tend to find it was fun for the first few Hours but after awhile i kinda got bored and decided to head off Home.

I may go again in 2011 but im hoping over to Belgium instead to check out the carshow there :p

and if Knowledge serves me correctly, Don't forget to pick up your Goodie bag on the way out :D

A few tips for you:

1) Take food with you if you can, it's expensive and busy to buy food there.
2) Take cash with you just in case. It does have cash machines, but it's nearly £2 to get your own money out!
3) Get plenty of rest if you are planning on doing a lot of walking around, it get tiring quickly...

;)

The only 'team' that is normally there is Dynamics.

As for annoucements Jordan and Pinkney are expected.

As for anyone else, you will either have to go or see the homepage on the day!

Sure Turks car will be knocking around somewhere, maybe not with the team, but the title winning Vectra was on the autosport stand the year i went, so someone may show off the Beemer.

Dunlop will have one car one there stand. Last year it was Jacksons BMW. I think though cant be sure that Dynamics will be there but I guess like last year they will be tight lipped about driver line ups.

On a seperate note has anyone ever had one of the Expierences in the action areana?

kezbabybabe

Dynamics are there more on their Wheels side, though they had Shedden and Neal (obviously) wandering around along with Tilly, with their 'plain' car.

mattlovestbs

I had my pic taken with Mat J and Matt Neal last yr - the VXR Vectra was in a different area, the Honda was with Dynamics wheels.

As per the new thread in the mains ection (for BTCC-related appearances only) please keep an eye on the homepage in the coming days/week to discover which drivers and on which days.

But the Dunlop stand is definitely a must for BTCC enthusiasts! :D

would also suggest visiting the BMMC (British Motorsport Marshals Club) stand and allow some orange (or black, got to keep the sillystone boys happy) clad person persuade you that marshalling is a far better way of being involved in the sport than being a spectator:D:D

All the Marshalls I have spoken to are great. Always up for a laugh and very kind. But sorry Reidy the no camera rule puts me out of the Marshalling side and in the Media side. I may stop by though and take a few photos though.

just read the storu on main page so it looks like a fair smattering of btcc tin toppers will be there. i also note that turkington will be unveiling a "new car" on thursday. i wonder if team rac orange will be replaced with some other colour scheme or perhaps wsr have purchased the latest version of the 320si (with the slots and wrinkles in the bonnet)

same as the others - if you haven't been then go as it's an experience. Get there early and leave late. Take your own food and drink.

I do have to say I would never go at the weekend again- way too many public and not enough driver mates there but we are lucky enough to get entry on the Thursday.
I do like seeing the cars on the stands and bumping into people I haven't seen since last year. Also we just have to get the latest Pits book (though he didn't do one last year), look at the models, pictures and dvds.

"Way too many people?" LOL!!! They are the only days they open the gates to the public!!!

They don't run the show just for you Les!

Surely a busy show is a good sign? Or would you prefer it if it was thin on the ground and poorly supported? I didn't think so.

Didn't mean I want it empty at the weekends - I am claustrophobic and get quite panicky in tight crowds so being able to go when it is a tad quieter is brilliant for me.

No, media do not pay to get in. If you don't have a hard-card the media office will send you a pass or covering letter to get into the gate.

I would have thought WSR for one, with Turkington and Jelley both there I can't see any other outcome. Also I do wonder if Matt Neal will be confirmed at Dynamics over the weekend too.

Well he's on the team dynamics stand all weekend, that'll probably mainly be for promoting the wheel company, but i wouldnt be suprised if we hear some kind of news regarding his decision for the 2010 season.
