I must admit my knowledy of the ETCC is very limited - so I'm not sure on team budgets, but with the new rules is there a chance that ETCC teams may use the BTCC as a testing ground?

It wouldn't do them much good - using different tyres and visiting different tracks would mean little useful info could be obtained. Also, there are few testing restrictions in the ETCC, so most teams test between each race

The only thing that may happen is the odd guest driver appearence, especially if BMW or Alfa Romeo get involved in any official or semi official capacity.
I was lucky enough to see Mark Skaife race a Nissan Primera at the French Touring car race at Le Mans in '93. He was using the race as a warm up for the Super Touring World Cup race.
It's always worth looking out for the odd surprse like that.
