I've never really added up the totals in the past so I decided just out of curiosity to do some sums and now my wallet is very mad at me lol:D
This year I was planning to go to as many Btcc meets as possible within reason, I live on the south coast so ones up north are more convenient to watch on tv.
Also I was planning to go to Silverstone for the British GP in July as well.
Suddenly looking like £500ish for the season.... ouch lol

Is it really £500ish? That doesn't sound like it's enough with F1 tickets in there too.
Don't forget food costs if you are eating at the circuits or planning to buy programmes...
Does that also include travel costs?

most of my motorsport budget will be going on petrol (as usual) so 5 round trips to knockhill @ £30 a time, £40 if i take the caravan, croft £50 (not taking caravan), kames £15 a time, britcar 24 hrs £gawd knows,
plus food, water & ale, also car needs a service, MOT and a wheel bearing and caravan needs 2 tyres. already spent £30 on new kit for marshalling
expensive way of standing in the pouring rain waiting for some driver to crash:D:D:D

If you are only spending that for the season, what's the secret?
My average touring car weekend costs me between £150 & £200. Travelling from the north of Scotland is expensive as after Knockhill the nearest circuit is a good five or six hour drive away. I hate to think what I spent last year between, tickets, fuel, food, accommodation, flights, car hire etc. Mind you I wouldn't have done anything differently!!! :D

Well for a guess I spent the following on a typical weekend last year:
£30.00 - return train fare
up to £20 - Snacks
about £30 - hotel room shared costs
£40 - cash withdrawal for food over the weekend and programme
£30 - weekend ticket (varies)
I make that about £150 a weekend...
so 10 rounds would be about £1500
That's not taking into account the cost of Knockhill, which is a 3 night hotel stay plus extra night's food and things...
I've been very lucky last couple of years to be able to afford it all...

it is an expensive hobby no matter the way you look at it, i am fortunate that my mate lives close by and we share the driving, means only 5 round trip each to knockhill. plus for britcar the scottish mob are looking at mini bus or bus hire as there is so many of us. the amount I spent on kit when starting out was crazy, overalls at £60, boots £30, waterproofs £20, gloves £10, scanner £60 (thanks santa). but the buzz of being trackside on a nice day, sun shining, birds chirping then 20odd cars head towards your corner and only 12 make it out the other side:D:D. that buzz of it all kicking off, the pulse quickens, your hand reaches for the powder bottle and your jog reaches a sprint
wish it was the start of the season

Well hopefully this year though I will be reducing travel I hope to attend more rounds and if all goes to plans it wont cost to go to them. I think Oulton will be my only venue this year and if I can get Media then the only cost is travel, food and possibly programmes. And seen as its an 11 mile journey there travel costs are minimum.

I reckon on each BTCC round costing me over £200 - weekend tickets for me and Soup = average £55; Premier Inn = average £58; diesel = average £45; food = average £60.
We'll be doing 7 this year (plus I'll be doing Thruxton and probably Silverstone on my own, and we're going to do the Oulton Park Gold Cup this year, which will cost about the same)
Worth every penny :D

Seen as you like bikes I suggest The Thundersprint. Unfortunately this year James Toseland wont be there as he will be in Monza. The advantage is its free admission, free grandstands etc.

When I took the car to silverstone britcat 2008 it was a tank down tank up and whatever was used while down there but it is well worth it and can be shared. As for my expences the britcar is the biggest, will be at all meetings at knockhill and as I live close by petrol cost is minimal :D oh and I don't have to get up at stupid oclock and no equipment requires replacing yet yipee.

I hate to think how much I have spent over the years but luckily a pass helps along with booking hotels around Christmas time for an average of £25. The tent also comes in handy during the summer months.
I find it is all the other stuff that racks it up - petrol and buying food at the circuit - probably can't get a decent meal under £6-7 and drinks.
But I love it
