Hey... Firman was a British F3 champ as well and won Formula Nippon this year along with 2nd in JapaneseGTs.

firman is better then sato at the moment.
jordan needed someone that didn't look like they were going to crash everytime they got behind the wheel.
sato was just to raw.

Sato didn't crash once in the second half of the year!

i didn't say he crashed in every race but he did crash too many times, he looked like he was on the limit all the time tho.
he had a blinding result at suzuka but nearly every time he went through the 180 corner he got it out of shape. thats not a place to be out of shape either.

Firman beat de Matta, Helio CastroNeves, Marc Gene and Montoya in F3, he's gotta be given a shot in F1.

I'm obviously glad to see another Brit in F1, but of all the new talent last year produced, Sato was head and shoulders above the rest.

A lack of testing at Jordan was partly to blame, but he has an incredible turn of speed. Unfortunately, finance is the key issue, not talent, and unless you really are going to challenge the likes of Schumacher in your first season, without stacking the motor, a rookie entering F1 will almost certainly have to bring bucks with him.

I've no doubt that EJ, in different financial circumstances, would have given TS another season to prove his growing confidence was matched by the ability to stay out of trouble, and that it would have been a wise choice, but the Jordan team had that choice taken from them by the likes of Osama Bin Laden, Tony Blair and Dubya (and Worldcom, Enron et al). Ahem. S'cuse me whilst I step down off this soapbox.

Given the decision to ban driver aids again from Silverstone, I really think that Sato would have had a fantastic season if he had been able to stay. Let's see what Ralph can do though, eh?

But I think that Massa would have never been suitable. Didn't Peter Sauber get rid of him due to the fact that his car spent the majority of the time in the gravel trap instead of on the hard stuff/

I think Jordan are going to make an excellent choice

Great to see Ralph is in F1 after all these years!

I know who i'll be supporting this year in F1!

Good to see another Brit in F1 - I wish him luck.

I entered him in Autosport's comp to guess Jordan's other driver - when do I take delivery of my prize then? :p

Firman has the advantage over others in F1 in that he wont have gotten used to all the driver aids, although he will have them at the beginning of the season.
