Why not??....I'd like BMW to compete in BTCC, or if the ETCC join that we could see some battles between BMW and MG. The underdog brit versus the posh, rich, ******* which are BMW drivers. Thats better. :D
Go MG !

So do you people think MG will be back next year?
I do, after all the spin aroung the last Brands round, they are getting loads of publicity, and they are now a real front runner on merit.
Turkington the 2004 BTCC champ.

I really hope they do stay, i've supported them sinced Silverstone 2001, cos the car looks amazing and Reid has been my fave driver ever since he took off Menu in '97 (bout the only move i have seen him do where it was his fault) 'cos i didnt want Menu to win the championship, and Reid was flying in a slow car but didnt quite make the move lol.
Also Warren Hughes shares my surname so I gotta like him, and Turkington is just amazin :D

I so glad that MG picked colin. I always thought he was faster than Howell, proved by the fact that he managed to qualife second at Mondello lasy year, and make it to the podium at croft too aswell when at TAK
GO MG!!!!!!

They've looked strong since Rockingham, finally found some pace and at track that suit them :D
Although I think they will struggle at Donnington 'cos their V6 engines aint as powerful as everyone elses.....Anyone else notice the Protons speed in a straightline? wow!

Nikh_mg, BTCC needs a strong MG
Don't think the constructors and drivers tables reflect it but Vauxhall have been pushed hard in lots of rounds. If teams like Honda and MG keep improving next year might be tasty.
Proton this year seem to be making progress without anyone really noticing.

Hmmm, I miss the mid 90's where there was a few teams all fighting for the constructors title, if MG and Honda were consistant everywhere it would be like that again, just a few more 10ths of a second are in it really.
Peugeot are movin forward, they still at the back but they dont seem to drop away much anymore, the Independants are also as quick as the lead guys too

Just take a look at the qualifying times these days.
You could throw a blanket over most of the top ten at most rounds. Would be interesting to see who would come to the fore on race days without ballast added or removed.

I think Honda would be stronger, they always struggle more than anyone with the Ballast, i'd like to see a sprint and a feature race format back, the sprints would be amazing now. Just I beg that ToCA dont do what the DTM have done and have one long race with 2 pitstops, it is really boring

Two races of equal length is so the right way to go.
You get mixed up grids and at the beginning I hated ballast, it's not quite right yet, because Vauxhall are storming away, but lots of teams and driver are contending.

I like the idea that someone said to Alan Gow, that Ballast should be taken off for qualifying then given to those who are fastest in qualifying

Sort of fine tune the ballast situation you mean ??
Take all the lead out before qualifying and then replace it for the first five rows on the grid, proportionate to who is where.
What a good idea.
What about the second race where previous race positions determine who is handicapped by how much ??

What a good thread and one that i will totally back 'cos we all should back MG being the only truely British team on the grid ! Be proud to support British and wave those flags for our boys ! :D
And as someone already pointed out, the cars look the mutts nuts ! I was watching it at Brands this weekend, right in line with the start line for race 2 and when Warren pulled up in his Zed, it just looked and sounded so amazing and made me feel so proud to be a part of a special team and loyal group of supporters :)
And we have such a great driver line up in the talented rising star of Colin, the steady hand but always feisty Anthony and the unpredictable Warren, all of whom are very nice people too.
I really do hope that MG continue in the BTCC next year as we need a team like them who are full of charachter and really are progresing in leaps and bounds every race. If they do compete next year then they will certainly be a massive threat to Honda and something for Vauxhall to worry about. Who knows, if they can carry this competetive streak through to next season then we could be watching the end of Vauxhalls dominance !!
PS,
Just a little thought here concerning the manufacturers title. It seems unfair that Vauxhall who have (i think) 6 cars running get all their points added together as a grand total when Honda and MG obviously dont have such a big grid presence. Only the 3 main team cars should be used for a points total.

I didnt know the Independants scored points for the manufacterers champonship. I was quite suprised that no-one bought last years Atomic Kitten MG's and ran them privately, I wish they did, the MG's sound soooo sweet! :D

Only 3 cars can score manufacturer points, selected by the manufacturer prior to each round.
