..........we lost the great Ayrton Senna. Still remember that hot, sunny day like it was yesterday. Where does the time go? For me, Formula One was never quite the same again. Also let's not forget the other man who lost his life that weekend, Roland Ratzenberger, who actually raced in the BTCC on his way up the motorsport ladder. RIP both of you.

It did change F1 forever, everyone at the FIA craped there selfs and went health and safety mad, but at the end of the day motorsport as always been dangerous and its the nature of the Beast, most of todays F1 drivers are wimps unlike the days of old, were getting killed was a regualr occurance, its why ive got more respect for Bike Racers than F1 drivers of today.

I might be taking this the wrong way, but are you saying because F1 drivers aren't getting killed at the moment, there wimps? Im sure the drivers in the days of old were just as much as "wimps" as the current crop, in the end no one wants to die.

Yes you are taking it the wrong way. Im saying they are to soft and pampered like Premiership footballers and everything is took to serious, I can relate to most touring car drivers and bike racers as they are more of a workin class standerd to me, same as Lower league footballers.
Didn't say I want anyone to Die, but Motorsport is dangerous and people no the risks before taking up the sport.
Its like joining the Army and then not expecting to go to war. Catch my drift?

I see, just the use of the word "wimp" confused me :) Yeah they are pampered as such, but there still talented and still putting there lives at risks ... like every motorsport driver out there.

It's no Secret that Motorsport in can be Very Dangerous, Depite the Improvements in Safety and how far it has come since then, The Danger is always there, And i assume any Driver no matter what they Race in Accepts that Possibilitie..

With that Said, Definatly a sad Day, I will always Rate Senna over Schumacher or any other driver..

Not forgetting Ratzenberger either, Granted his F1 Career is no way near as Impressive as Senna's but that doesnt make his death any less Sadder..

Gone but not Forgotten :)

We might not have had a recent death in F1 but F2 lost Henry Surtees Last year and have a look on Youtube at the F2 accident yesterday it was only good luck that there wern't multiple deaths. Again it was only luck that Felipe Massa survived last year. All these guys have my utmost respect.

RIP Ayrton, Was indeed a sad day. :-(

Unfortunately for racing to be as safe as it is today people have sadly died or been seriously injured as a result safety regulations have changed to make it safer for future generations.

I still remember those scenes of TV of them trying to treat him and realising at that point how serious an accident it had been. :( I think that will stay with me forever.

It was a very sad weekend in the life of F1 and motorsport in general.

However, maybe some of the current drivers have the 2 of them to thank for being able to race a "safely" as they can today. It was down to that weekend that safetly became a priority in F1.
