I have been a fan of Moto GP and Rossi is my favourite rider for as long as I can rembember, but I've been wondering the last few seasons about Jorge Lorenzo. This guy can race! Just curious what you guys think and if you think he could be a multiple winning Champion when it calls for Rossi to hang up his Bike so to speak.

Rossi is 31 now and has 65 wins out of 137 race starts in the Moto GP class. That's a win % of 46%

Lorenzo is 23 now and has 6 wins out of 36 race starts in the Moto GP class. That's a win % of 17%

I know the win percentage doesn't look like a lot now but the moves Jorge pulls off are amazing! He is currently standing at the top of the Championship after 2 races this season with 45 points, 4 points over 2nd place Rossi. He is definatly one to watch for the future.

Id say yes, hes defianatley a future world champion, he must stay with Yahmaha though as they have the best bike, you can tell Rossi sees him as a threat as he does not want him as a team mate next year and they have a divide down the pit wall and don't share race data.
Lorenzo is 250cc world champion from 2006 and 2007 and he dominated both years, so hes got the winning mentallty, hes abit hot headed but that will come with age. I want him to win it this year but he throws his bike at the scenary to often, so think its gona be Rossi or Stoner.

Yeah agree with you there about the rivalry within the team. Just watching it you can see Rossi is threatened. I'm still hoping Rossi wins this year though ;)

I am a bit of a fringe MotoGP watcher and sadly missed the last race. I have become a bit of a Lorenzo fan though. ;)

I definitely think and that Lorenzo can and will take over Rossi's crown as the King of MotoGP.

You have to find highlights of Jurez online somewhere mate, It was a fantastic race with Lorenzo taking the win of the last few laps. They have it on Iplayer http://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episode/b00scbh1/MotoGP_2010_Round_2_Jerez/

Have you being watching the new Moto2 Catogery?, its some of the best Racing ive ever seen, 41 Bikes all piling into the first corner, the first 2 races of the seaon have been awersome, think they only show it on Eurosport and not the Beeb.

125 and Moto 2 on BBC Red Button or iplayer, and yes Moto2 is a great series, back to the main topic however, Lorenzo is definatley going to be a superstar, whether or not he can eclipse Rossi 100+ wins and 9 (10+?) titles remains to be seen however he has already won the 125 and 250 (twice) crown...

... and at a younger age than Valentino when he took them!

I'm bored and after the win at Le Mans last weekend Lorenzo's win % has jumped up to 19%.

Watch this number jump up quite a lot during the season.

Rossi is still carrying his shoulder injury and Casey can't keep his bike the right way up at the mo, Mugello this weekend and i'm guessing that VR (no not Virgin Racing) will be back to his almost best for this one and really up for it, Silverstone will be a real level playing field fortnight later (tickets in hand cannot wait) so I really think that after these two races we will know who is really in the best position, not trying to take anything away from Jorge as he can be shall we say inconsistant and we have only had three rounds but you would be a very brave person to write off Rossi - especially this early in the season.

Oh don't get me wrong i'm not writing off Rossi at all lol he's still my favourite rider of all time. I too think Rossi will win at Mugello as well because his home crowd will be there and like you say more healing time for his shoulder.

Well due to Rossi's accident, it looks like Lorenzo's chance to make his mark has come a little sooner than expected.

bit of a shame as it was shaping up to be a great battle between these two. Hopefully Rossi will be back and fully fit soon and can give us a good close season in 2011.
