A Trophy dedicated to the memory of Will Hoy was presented at the Goodwood revival meeting last weekend. It was presented to the driver considered to be the most entertaining during the St Marys Trophy Saloon Car race.
The winner was Grant Williams who drove a Mk1 Jaguar in any direction but forwards.
Regular Goodwood visitors will know of Grant who drives the ex-Roy Salvadori car in the most amazing way.
As he took the car over from Derek Bell in the two driver race, the commentator suggested we all get to a corner to watch as he spent the race (as he has for the last two years) powersliding the car, getting it on full opposite lock for no reason other than that he can! It was pure showmanship, and he still finished second. Quite simply Grant races for the sheer fun of it, to entertain, and is still able to get a result - in my opinion a worthy winner of a trophy bearing Will's name.
