Interesting to read the remarks re booing of Muller at Oulton Park. Have we not lost the plot here? Touring cars is the approachable face of motor sport and we all have drivers we support and want to do well. The Champion may well not be our choice but he will be the driver that has put in a performance during the season that gets him to be just that. I for one was dissapointed when JP won the tittle in 2001 because I did not like some of his ways of winning but I still respected him as the Champion. Thats what we should do this year and I believe that organised booing has no place in our sport. That of course is an opinion that comes with age and not the exuberance of youth. I just hope that enough people cheer so that it reflects the true spirit of the tour.

Yes I agree. Booing Muller when / if he gets the Championship would be a very poor show. In fact I would go so far as to say it would reflect badly on the people booing. Showing them to be bad sports.
That said, as one of the crowd watching, and cheering my team on, I am not averse to booing when he passes my favourite drivers. It is part of the fun and makes it much more enjoyable when you get involved, and the passions rise. I think most spectators take it in good grace and see it as contributing to the attmosphere. I have never seen a fight between supporters and would soon stop going if ever there was one. We tend to have a boisterous exchange of views and cheers and boos are treated in much the same way.

Anyway the difference in volume of cheering between the announcements of Turkington's second and Muller's first was much more effective.

This is geting boring now. If people want to boo they'll boo him. it doesn't make much difference, if I'd just won the champonship I wouldn't care if people liked it or not really.
Now can we drop the subject?

This has all been discussed before. I am closing this thread.
