Hmm... the Formula BMW UK calendar says that they will be racing at Knockhill, not Rockingham, on the 26th and 27th of June. Anyone care to read anything into this...?

Same - they're both great circuits.
Also F-BMW will not be at the BTCC Donny meeting, but they will support the ETCC there.

Next year is going to be great ~ I can't wait!!
Les ~ I agree Knockhill & Rockingham would be brilliant.

hope that with the Seat being at BTCC race weekends they decide that that is enough PR and decide to stay in the ETCC.
It would be good to see the Seat in the BTCC even if it is in ETCC spec.
Good news about the FBMW though they look good, for racing.

It's definitely looking a strong support race line up for next season.
I do hope that next the calender includes both Knockhill and Rockingham, both are great tracks.:)

Like everyone else, I'd like to see both circuits on the calendar next year. That said, if they can only visit one venue, I would go for Rockingham.

Bah!
The Formula Renault and Porsche races are exceptionally dull (in my humble opinion).
More importantly, when I take along friends who would be classed as 'casual fans', they are completely disinterested!
There are not enough Porsche cars, and they are always dull. The only exception to the dullness was Tim's win at Donington.
Formula Renault? Heck, I've heard Renault Sport employees complaining about how dull that is! Let alone the public!
:(

they might have been dull this year but next year is a whole new ball game (oops that's a bit of an odd thing to say). All you need is a few more Porsches and a bit closer racing in FRenault.

I'm curious to see the formula BMW cars though in general I'm not really into single seaters much, there seems to be an lot of different series that are all pretty similar.

Yes there are lots of single seater series at that level, but no more than there were 5 years ago when we had Formula Vauxhall, Formula Renault and Formula Ford supporting BTCC events.
This BMW series sounds particularly interesting, as 15 year-olds will be able to compete, so BMW will grab all the young guns before Ford and Reanault!

15 year olds being able to compete? They're getting younger. But that's what BMW want I suppose, make sure that they get 'em young and bring up on the BMW path.:D

I agree with Porsches, but i've enjoyed F Renault this year. I didn't usually watch it much in previous years, but this year i've had 3 drivers to follow in it and that makes it all the more interesting for me.

I agree 100% with Cleland Fan the Formula Renault season this year has been far from dull as there have been new faces on the podium and the races are always close.
The line-up for the 2004 toca tour will be its strongest yet and If seat can pull in 44,000 punters into rockingham by promoting tickets at a low price who knows what they'll do next year.:)

The main purpose of Formula Renault is to develop young talent. If you follow the series, you will be one of the first people in the world to hear of the next F1 driver. Whenever I see Kimi Raikkonen, I never forget that I was able to walk right up to him in the Formula Renault paddock at BTCC events three years ago- not that I would have got much conversation out of him!;)
If the racing is exciting, that is an added bonus.

Exactly. :)
Over the years i've seen (from this year's F1 lineup) Montoya, Wilson, Firman, Pizzonia, Kiesa, Button and Raikkonen in the ToCA support series and they've gone onto greater things.

Some people prefer single-seaters, some prefer tin-tops. Some (like me) have no preference. I think there should be something for everyone on the TOCA package, especially because Formula One is this country's biggest form of motorsport, the way most people come into racing, and therefore it's good to have cars racing that people can identify with F1 cars, and watch future stars.
As for the racing in Formula Renault, I admit, Lewis Hamilton this year has almost had a script he's followed for each race, dominating in style. But there has been good racing, you just had to look behind. Brands in August were the dullest races of the year (9 times out of 10, Brands Indy does that for these cars), but even then there was a great battle for 19th.

interestingly, while watching the ascars on sunday at rockingham i looked across to the inner paddock entrance road and the "rockingham welcomes ......." banner has changed colour(blue background to white background and also has"BMW performance centre" added.
should we read that bmw would like to showcase their products and series there and if so, may this give an indication as to rockingham's place on the 2004 calendar?

I think Alan Gow has already answered a question about Formual BMW's calendar showing Knockhill - looks like they have been a bit "previous".:)
