Certainly looked to be more than that to me as well. Didn't think that some of the smaller circuits had attendance figures until the admin had been done the next day. Rough figures maybe, but not the actual ones.

The circuit attendence figures can sometimes be deceiving.

The figures quoted are always for "paying adults" (which, for the pupose of ticket sales, are usually deemed to be those over 16 years).... and therefore don't include such things as children, hospitality, any free or discounted ticket deals, or those with competitor or permanent passes etc., all of which can sometimes add many thousands to the quoted number.

It should be noted, however, that the way in which we calculate these accurate or true attendence figures is not necessarily the way in which other promoters do theirs......

Ooh Ow!! Interesting that - might make an interesting comparison with figures for attendance at a certain circular sort of shape venue which claims some very good crowds.

I guess if you drop the Champ car event at Brands then the last really big BTCC crowd was Donington at the end of last year - but then the CSMA sold alot of discounted tickets for that.

So does that make a normal BTCC crowd about 15,000 on average?

My only real concern about increasing crowd size is that most of the circuits can't cope with the current crowd size (in terms of getting in and out). The only real exceptions to this are Silverstone and Rockingham.

My remark wasn't meant to infer that other promoters do not issue accurate figures, or that some promoters may be using artificial or inflated figures......merely, that the way our attendence numbers are calculated do not necessarily use the same computation that others use.

Point taken Sir!!

Must make life difficult if you are trying to compare how well touring cars is doing in comparison with other events!

It certainly does.
