A new 2 litre engine has made its debut this weekend in an MG ZR at Thruxton, reading the MG website it suggests it may be used for the BTCC in 2004, for the ZS.

I assume this is a straight 4 cylinder. Shame really as the sound of that V6 got the old blood courseing. Will they be allowed to keep the twin exhausts? Hope so as it made the ZS stand out even more.
Still it could be a good indicator that MGS&R will be back next year. They were always saying that the V6 needed to be reved higher than allowed to get the best out of it. Plus it should be lighter so the tyres should last longer.

Must be staying with a BTC Tourer if they continue. Going down the route of building an ETCC car would allow the V6 to rev higher.

Don't think there'd be any need for a twin exhaust at all, because unlike the V6 a 4 cylinder doesn't have two banks of cylinders. What more has come of the rumour this years engine builder was being dropped ?
