    Triple Eight Vectras

I have a question (fabricator is probably the best person to ask this to, but I leave it open) about 888 Vectra S2000s.

Obviously, 888 worked with Vauxhall as a works team using Vectra S2000s from 2007 to 2009 (3 seasons), so how many Vectras were used in this period?

Some years the team used 3 cars (or all, actually?), so does that mean there are 9 BTCC Vectras in existence, or did 888 reuse the cars year after year?

Good question, not one I can answer

    but you would have

    3x Fabrizio Giovanardi
    2x Matt Neal
1x Tom Chilton, Alain Menu, Tom Onslow Cole and Andrew Jordan.

I could be wrong but I think some race in different countries now, I remember hearing off one potentialy going off to race in the Swedish Touring Cars but I don't think that ever came to fruition.

I think one of them was written off when OC had his big smash at Brands in 08

Reused. Think there have been either 4 or 5 in total and solely used in the BTCC. It was only in the days of the Astra Coupe that they were mass producing them. Well there were about 10 of them altogether, compared to the Vectras and 4 Astra SportHatches.

4 raced last year, must have been at least 6 shells as a team like 888 would not have gone without a shell or 2 ready to be built up and if 1 was lost, unless as davey said 5 in total and one of the 4 currently in use was built from a spare

    That's Jordan's old car, it was re-shelled in 2010.

Same car. Jordon's Pirtek car was the works car he had been driving the previous season.

The Pirtek quote came about as a result of of having to re-shell Jeff Smith's Civic and was referring to Smith's Vectra. Despite the best efforts of this forum to link the car to everyone who expressed even the vaguest interest in joining the BTCC, Smith still hasn't sold the car yet.

    Smile

Jeff's Vectra from 2011 was bought from Dave Pinkney, which Dave had purchased from 888 at the end of the 2009 season and then drove in 2010 with Swindon Engines new 2 litre turbo Toca package engine which is now powering half the grid. But isn't breaking down as much anymore!! The car was Fab Giovanardi's car which he won 2 championships and most of the races in!!! Jeff car remains under a dust sheet and not sold ( I believe )!!. And should never be! That car is a legend!!

How much of it is still original after this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ealgl4UcUxQ

There's no time for sentimentality anymore when it's worth money. Look at the 2005 and 2006 BTCC-winning cars. Dynamics sold them on to raise funds and they're no longer in existance after Mike Jordan and John George wrecked them.

How many cars on the grid are still in their original pants!? Matt Hamilton did far more damage to that car at Rockingham 2010 when he T-boned Dave at 80 for no real reason!! Ignore me, I'm just being anal! I loved that car!
