Career History/

2006-09
• BTCC with VX Racing. 5th overall in debut season in ’06 with 2 race wins in Vauxhall Astra Sport Hatch. First win, at Knockhill, was also 100th for Vauxhall in BTCC. CHAMPION in ’07 and ’08 with new Vauxhall Vectra. Won ’07 title with 10 race wins but only in tense final race of season at Thruxton after passing SEAT rival Jason Plato. 6 race wins helped him build almost unassailable lead in ‘08 – a good job too as, almost unbelievably, he failed to score in season finale at Brands Hatch! Third outright in ’09 with 5 more race wins.
2006-08
• In between BTCC commitments, also contested end-of-season Aussie V8 Supercar races in ’08 with Triple Eight team – including Bathurst classic – plus, in ’06, several World Touring car Championship rounds in JAS Motorsport Honda Accord.
2004-05
• European and World touring car championships with Alfa Romeo team in its 156 model. 5th in ’04 ETCC with 1 race win; 3rd in ’05 WTCC with 4 race wins.
2003
• ETCC with BMW Italy-Spain team in its 320i model. 9th overall.
2000-02
• ETCC with Alfa Romeo team in its 156 model. CHAMPION in each year: ‘00
with 5 race wins, ‘01 with 3 race wins; ‘02 with 9 race wins. Also test and
development work at Varano circuit in Italy for Ferrari F1 team in Dec ‘00/Jan ‘01.
1991-99
• Touring cars. Contested Italian series 1991-94 with Team Peugeot Italy, winning S2 class in ’92 before finishing 2nd and 3rd outright in ’93 and ’94. Moved to Alfa team for ’95, finishing 3rd overall. Remained with Alfa for next four seasons, always contesting Italian series, plus Spanish (1996-97) and German (’99). Won Spanish title in ’97 (last season for 155 TS model) plus Italian titles (1998-99) with new 156.
1989-91
• FIA Formula 3000. Drove for First Racing in ’89 and ’90 in March 89D-Judd and Reynard 90D-Mugen. 1 race win in ’89 and finished 10th outright both seasons. 13th outright in Forti Corse Reynard 91D-Mader in ’91.
1987-88
• Italian F3 in Prema Racing Reynard-Alfa Romeo. 3rd outright in ’88 with 2 race wins.
1983-86
• Karting. CHAMPION in ’86 in both World and Italian Formula C 125cc category.
