Jordan Snr's race against time
Mike Jordan, boss of Dunlop British Touring Car Championship team Pirtek Racing, put in a great comeback drive to take third in a top classic touring car race at Silverstone.
Jordan was left seemingly with no hope after his driving partner made an unscheduled pit stop early on in the race for 1960s under 2-litres touring cars – named after former double BTCC Champion Jack Sears – at last weekend's world-famous Silverstone Classic meeting.
But Pirtek Racing team boss Jordan – himself a race-winner in the BTCC a few years back – then took over their car, an iconic Lotus Ford Cortina (pictured above) and came through the 40-plus field to claim the final podium spot a few laps from home.
Jordan though hardly had time to celebrate as he jumped in a car driven by son and current BTCC star Andrew to make it to Snetterton, Norfolk some 100 miles away in time to take over the wheel of a Ford Mustang in a two-driver sportscar race.
They made it - just! - and Snr ultimately drove to a fourth place finish but only after losing two places during a late safety car period.
