BTCC coverage goes Stateside
The Speed TV channel’s highlights of 2010’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship commences next week for fans across the Atlantic.
Using ITV Sport’s superb pictures – as broadcast across the UK in 2010 – a series of 25 hour-long highlights shows will be aired across the USA and Canada between Monday 6 December and Tuesday 8 February 2011.
The opening five rounds from Thruxton, Rockingham, Brands Hatch GP, Oulton Park and Croft will receive two showings each on subsequent Mondays and Tuesdays.
Highlights of each of the season’s final five rounds, from Snetterton, Silverstone, Knockhill, Donington Park and Brands Hatch Indy will be shown three times each with ‘rolling’ Saturday, Monday and Tuesday slots.
It is estimated that Speed North America’s (USA & Canada) audience reach per broadcast is a staggering 82 million.
Furthermore, Speed Latin America’s coverage of 2010’s BTCC season – which began in June and reaches a further potential audience of 14 million across South America – is currently drawing to a climax. A run of 67 programmes will conclude with highlights of the decisive Donington Park and Brands Hatch Indy rounds twice scheduled for broadcast on Monday 20 and Tuesday 21 December respectively.
In all, overseas coverage of the BTCC in 2010 will have played to a cumulative audience of some 1.6 billion across five different continents (Australia, Europe, Far East, North America and South America).
