HARD. Insignia test for Goff

Newly crowned Renault Clio Cup champion Jack Goff will test Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship squad Team HARD.’s Vauxhall Insignia later this week.

Goff will get behind the wheel of the latest NGTC-specification machine at the Silverstone circuit on Thursday.

The 21-year-old from High Wycombe won this year’s BTCC-supporting Clio Cup with Team Pyro and says he now has his sights firmly fixed on racing in Britain’s premier motor racing championship in 2013.

“It’s what I want to do and have been working towards for some time now and it’s also what my sponsors want to do,” he told btcc.net. “Hopefully we can make it all come together.

“It felt great to get the call from Tony (Gilham, Team HARD. principal) and I can’t wait to see what one of the latest-spec NGTC cars feels like.

“Being successful in Clios in front of the BTCC teams has definitely helped get me noticed. I was team-mate with Dave Newsham in 2010 and Aron Smith in 2011 in Clios and they’ve obviously gone on to big things in the BTCC. The Clios have also produced other top BTCC names like Tom Onslow-Cole and Mat Jackson so, hopefully, this is where it all starts for me.”

Gilham added: “Jack is obviously a major talent in the making – anyone who wins the Clio title is clearly made of the right stuff and going to do well in the BTCC.

“We’re all about nurturing young talent for the future and I’m really happy we’re giving him his break – it’d be great to get him on board for 2013’s BTCC and build with him into the future.”
