Goff, Knox get first BTCC tests

Renault Clio Cup and Mini Challenge champions Jack Goff and Chris Knox both experienced Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship machinery for the first time yesterday (Thursday).

Goff, who won this year’s BTCC-supporting Clio Cup, and former Mini title-winner Knox drove Team HARD’s NGTC Vauxhall Insignia (pictured) and Team ES Racing.com’s S2000 Vauxhall Vectra respectively at a foggy and damp Silverstone.

High Wycombe racer Goff told btcc.net: “The grip levels and the power are certainly quite a bit higher than I’m used to. And even though the car is also a lot bigger than the Clio it is also very stable through the corners. The BTCC is where I want to be in 2013 and I’m itching for another go.”

Team prinicipal Tony Gilham added: “Jack did a fantastic job. He got to grips with the car inside two laps and was quickly on the pace for the conditions. We were also impressed by his feedback.”

Meanwhile ES boss Chris James said he was equally impressed by Knox’s performance.

He commented: “Conditions were far from ideal but Chris put in a very encouraging display and also never put a wheel wrong. His feedback was very useful as well.”
