Hodgetts tests Austin Audi
Clio Cup front-runner Stefan Hodgetts tested the Rob Austin Racing team’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship Audi A4 at Silverstone at the weekend.
Austin’s eponymous team was giving guests passenger rides in its wixracing.co.uk-backed A4 around the full Silverstone Grand Prix circuit on Saturday. Both Austin and 2012 team-mate Will Bratt drove the car but the squad also took the opportunity to give Hodgetts a run.
RAR team boss Austin told btcc.net: “Stefan is a bit of a superstar and did a fantastic job. It was very interesting hearing his feedback. It’s a long shot at the moment, but a third car is something we would be interested in putting together. It’s all down to budget and we’ve got some talks coming up with people. Let’s see, but someone of Stefan’s calibre would be very interesting…”
Hodgetts, son of double BTCC champion Chris Hodgetts, has raced in the championship before, in a Vauxhall Astra and then Alfa Romeo in 2004.
He has since built a winning reputation in a variety of categories including the BTCC’s supporting Clio Cup, Porsche Carrera Cup and Ginetta GT Supercup in recent seasons. In 2012 he also earned the backing of double BTCC Champion Jason Plato’s new KX Akademy which supports emerging talents.
