Plenty of glitz at awards night
Saturday night was awards night for the 2012 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
BTCC hotel partner IHG's Crowne Plaza Heythrop Park in Oxfordshire made for a swish setting as Gordon Shedden joined Jim Clark and John Cleland in becoming only the third Scottish driver to collect the Champion's trophy since the championship’s inception in 1958.
The evening, hosted and presented by ITV duo Steve Rider and Louise Goodman along with BTCC pit lane and podium commentator Alan Hyde, also saw every other award winner from the 2012 season present.
They included: runners-up to Shedden, Matt Neal and Jason Plato; Independent Drivers Trophy top three Andrew Jordan, Robert Collard and Tom Onslow-Cole; HiQ Teams Champion Honda Yuasa Racing Team (collected by Team Manager Peter Crolla); Manufacturers/Constructors Champion Honda (collected by Honda UK Managing Director Dave Hodgetts); Independent Teams Trophy winner Pirtek Racing (collected by Pirtek Chairman Kelvin Roberts and Eurotech’s Judith Jordan).
Also in attendance to collect their trophies were rising stars Jack Goff and Charlie Robertson, winners of this year’s BTCC-supporting Renault Clio Cup and Ginetta Junior Championship.
