HARD. adds VW Passats
Team HARD. is planning to run NGTC-spec VW Passats alongside its Vauxhall Insignias in 2013’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
Team principal Tony Gilham has confirmed that the Kent-based outfit is currently stripping two Passat CCs (see artist’s impression) ahead of turning them into turbocharged, 300bhp NGTC machines for next season’s BTCC.
He told btcc.net: “We already have one driver signed and are also in very advanced discussions with others. They will be big, exciting names.
“We envisage two Insignias and two Passats on the grid for the opening round at Brands Hatch (30/31 March). The plan is to add two more Passats later on in the season and it could be we end up running two teams under different names.
“The Insignias which we acquired just before the end of the 2012 season are also going through a complete redevelopment – people will really see a difference when they re-appear in 2013.”
And he added: “The team of people we are building behind the scenes will be among the most experienced and highly qualified on grid. There’s some more very exciting news to come in the near future. Watch this space, as they say…”
