Boardley wants another go
Hot rod world champion Carl Boardley says he wants to try Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship machinery again after his maiden test in Speedworks Motorsport’s Toyota Avensis was cut short by heavy rain.
Ipswich’s Boardley had managed just a dozen laps in the NGTC-spec car when the test at his home circuit of Snetterton was abandoned because of a flooded track surface.
He told btcc.net: “It was impossible to learn anything meaningful from a day like Friday but it was still good to drive a BTCC car and see how everything functions inside the cockpit – it is obviously quite a bit more sophisticated than inside the hot rods I’ve been racing all these years.
“I’d love another go, but in proper weather conditions. I’ve also been racing these past few season in pick-up trucks to learn about turning left as well – not just right as we do on the ovals – and my priority now for 2013 is a move into the BTCC.”
