Collard collects!
Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship ace Robert Collard collected a cheque for around £3000 at BMW Motorsport’s recent annual awards ceremony.
Collard finished fifth overall in this year’s BTCC, his best ever result in the championship. He also narrowly missed out on lifting the Independent Drivers Trophy.
In all the Hampshire driver won three races in his WSR/eBay Motors BMW 320si – in the season’s first race on the Brands Hatch Indy circuit in April and then twice around the twisting Knockhill track in Fife in August. His Brands Hatch win meant he was one of five drivers to lead the points table at some point during the season.
His results earned him 22nd place out of 300 drivers who qualified for BMW Motorsport’s league table (for privateer entrants anywhere in the world using the famed German manufacturer’s machines in motor sport).
Collard’s achievements also earned 3,500 Euros from BMW when he attended the make's annual star-studded gala in Munich. He was then on a flight back to the UK to join his WSR team for the following evening’s Autosport Awards ceremony in London…
