Austin, Bratt targeting wins
Rob Austin and Will Bratt believe wins are possible in their Rob Austin Racing-prepared Audis in 2013’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.
The Pershore outfit this morning announced that former international single-seater ace Bratt will contest a full BTCC season alongside team principal Austin in its pair of A4s. The news came amid a flurry of media activity on a special BTCC display at the Autosport show inside Birmingham's NEC.
Bratt contested a part-season for RAR in 2012 and believes knowing his plans so early in the year can only mean strong results in the season ahead.
The Oxford racer commented: “I can’t wait to get started, I really enjoyed the racing last year and the prospect of a full season is tremendous. The development of the car will allow us to compete at the sharp end.”
Austin’s campaign will be sponsored by automotive filter giant Wix which is already a major player in American NASCAR oval racing. Set also to appear in Ron Howard’s forthcoming Seventies F1 movie Rush, he believes having Bratt as a team-mate can only help his team advance up the BTCC grid.
He added: “Having Will back for a full season is fantastic news. He is a great driver and is going to surprise a lot of people this season. He was unlucky not to get some better results last year, but he did show how quick he can be. Mark my words, he is a quality driver.”
