Ryan Lawford

btcc.net is saddened to hear that Eurotech/Pirtek Racing mechanic Ryan Lawford has died aged just 26.

Ryan worked as the number two mechanic on Andrew Jordan’s Honda Civic in 2012 as Jordan and Pirtek swept to both the Independent drivers and teams’ titles.

Jordan’s car carried a tribute to Ryan at the weekend’s Autosport International show. Ryan is pictured above, right, with the Pirtek crew following a dramatic race win for Jordan at Snetterton last August.

Jordan told btcc.net: “I’d known Ryan since my mid-teens – he worked for Will Gollop’s rallycross team which I drove for in 2006 and 2007. He was also a rapid driver and won races in rallycross himself.

“He first worked for us here at Eurotech in 2008 and then again all the way from 2010. We are all one family here. We don’t just work with one another – we’re best mates and he was a great lad. This is so awful for everyone.”

On behalf of the BTCC, btcc.net offers its deepest sympathies to Ryan's family, friends and colleagues.
