AFM planning two diesel BMWs

Rick Kerry and Nick Leason have announced plans to merge resources and enter two bio-diesel-powered BMW 120ds in 2008’s HiQ MSA British Touring Car Championship under the Team AFM and NJL Racing banner.

Kerry’s small AFM squad pioneered diesel technology with its sole 120d in the BTCC in 2007, steadily improving reliability and performance as the season progressed. Leason contested a part season for privateer Lexus squad BTC, but has been keen to return to the BTCC since leaving.

A short team statement said that both drivers are expected to resume test and development of the 120d at the end of this month and, with the help of a group of specialist companies it has attracted on board, that the squad anticipates another step forward in competitiveness.
