Porsche Carrera Cup Great Britain

For the eighth consecutive season in 2010 as a support category to the BTCC, the Porsche Carrera Cup GB will provide the crowds with a truly exotic flavour as drivers race for glory in the famed German sports car manufacturer’s machines.

There are three titles up for grabs: Pro, Pro-Am1 and Pro-Am2. In Pro and Pro-Am1 (the top two categories), drivers contest the series in 2008 and 2009-model 911 GT3 Cup cars that boasts some 420bhp.

Pro-Am2 is for 2006 and 2007 model 911GT3 Cup cars driven by ‘gentleman’ racers wanting to move up to very high-profile events, as well as young drivers making the switch from single-seaters or other one-make series. The category also permits drivers to tackle only selected rounds in a move to contain budgets.

After the success of Richard Westbrook (2004 champion) and Damien Faulkner (2005/06 champion) in stepping up to the Porsche Supercup which supports Formula 1 grands prix, a new crop of ambitious drivers is seeking to follow that route.

The Porsche Carrera Cup GB features at all ten BTCC race meetings, with two races held on each weekend.
