In partnership with Motorbase Performance – which built the race-winning Ford Focus – Dextra Racing made its debut in the BTCC in 2015, fielding a car run by successful GT and Porsche Carrera Cup GB squad Team Parker Racing.
The Leicestershire-based outfit initially earned its reputation for its many championship wins in Caterhams – an impressive record that is reflected in its status today as the company responsible for Caterham’s corporate work. This extends to track days, drift days, slalom days, technical support and looking after customers.
Team Parker Racing, based in a 5000 square-foot workshop, also undertakes specialist Porsche road car work and runs drivers in the GT Cup and VLN endurance series in Germany, the highlight of which is the famous Nurburgring 24 Hours on the legendary Nurburgring Nordschleife circuit.
In 2015, Alex Martin had a solid rookie season in the BTCC, breaking into the points at Rockingham in September. He returned for 2016 but with changes behind the scenes at the outfit, he was replaced by Stephen Jelley for 2017.
He stayed with Team Parker Racing in 2018, making the switch to a BMW 125i M Sport and continued into 2019 for a third consecutive campaign in Britain’s top flight with the outfit.
