2015 NEWS ROUND-UP

Here at btcc.net we’ll be bringing you all the latest news and developments ahead of the 2015 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship and every few weeks or so we’ll also provide a recap on the stories that have broken in the off-season. Here’s our first update on the all-important news for 2015 so far…

National Express
Britain’s biggest and best motor racing championship travels the length and breadth of the country and it will be doing so all over again in 2015. Due to the ongoing success in the order of events and format of each weekend TOCA were able to confirm the calendar as early as August. Over the coming days the full calendar pages will be updated on btcc.net, including tickets details, so keep an eye out. Smith stays with BMR
Aron Smith enjoyed an extremely impressive 2014 campaign, as did the fledgling Team BMR squad the he raced for. Two race wins for the Irishman and a team committed to improving its fleet of VW CCs ahead of next season meant both parties were keen to continue with the successful relationship. Such was the joy experienced by both team and driver during the Snetterton weekend, where Smith claimed his third BTCC career win, that a deal was immediately penned for the young talent to stay with BMR for next season. To Infiniti and beyond
We often say that the BTCC never sleeps and just four days after the conclusion of the 2014 season saw the sport’s media descend on London to see the series’ latest manufacturer-backed team unveiled. Infiniti – Nissan’s premium vehicle arm – will be taking on the toughest series in the UK next year, but they’ll be doing so for a great cause too – click here for the full details on Support our Paras Racing.

Chevy racers change their stripes
Two teams that competed with Chevrolet machinery will be making changes for the 2015 season, but the American marque will still be represented on the BTCC grid. Laser Tools Racing has confirmed it will run a Mercedes A Class next year with young Aiden Moffat behind the wheel – see here for more. Chris Stockton’s Power Maxed Racing outfit will be staying with Chevrolet but in an interesting development they’ve decided to purchase the Laser Tools saloon version of the Cruze, having decided not to run the hatchback model moving forward.

Rules of engagement
Following the annual meeting between TOCA and the teams at the end of the season, organisers were quick to agree and announce a raft of changes for next season. Ballast, gear ratios, engine performance, tyre rules, grid order and the Jack Sears Trophy are just some of the changes confirmed – click here for the lowdown on BTCC’s 2015 rules and regulation changes.
