Reigning Formula 1 World Champion Lewis Hamilton has expressed his pride at the news his brother Nicolas will be racing as a guest entry in this year’s Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship. Nicolas lives with cerebral palsy and when he joins the BTCC grid at Croft later this year will become the first ever disabled person to compete in the UK’s premier motor sport series.

In a recent BBC Sport blog, Lewis comments, “You might have seen in the news that my brother Nic is to race this year in the British Touring Car Championship. As you can probably imagine, it has not been easy for Nic being the sibling of someone who is successful at something, and the fact that he has a disability has made things 10 times harder for him in life than it was for me. But he is a massively determined and motivated young man and he has worked really hard against all odds to get to where he is.”

Nicolas will take to the wheel of an AmDtuning.com-run Audi S3 Saloon for the second half of the season and is hoping to compete as a full entry in 2016.

Lewis continues, “To go from being in a wheelchair, through having a big surgery when he was five years old to be now racing cars against and beating people who have no disability is hugely inspiring. I am excited for him… What he can do in a car, despite everything he has against him, is pretty special.”
