The opening weekend of the 2022 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship kicked off at Donington Park yesterday, with the first qualifying session of the Hybrid Era producing a flurry of tin-top thrills in Leicestershire.

Qualifying in Quotes returns again this year, with the circuit commentary podcast and interviews with the fastest three drivers published for fans to listen to after every qualifying session throughout the campaign.

In a highly-competitive session – with the top 11 drivers on the timesheets beating the qualifying lap record – it was ROKiT MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill that came out on top. Fellow WSR driver Colin Turkington is set to join Hill on the front row, while reigning champion Ash Sutton lines up third for today’s opener.

Topping the times on the 1.98-mile circuit, it was a maiden pole position for Hill:
