Returning for its third year, the Goodyear Wingfoot Award was another accolade presented during Brands Hatch’s Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season finale last week.

Goodyear established the Wingfoot Award to celebrate the driver with the best qualifying results across the season, awarding points based on each driver’s qualifying positions at every race weekend and it was ROKiT MB Motorsport’s Jake Hill who took the honours this year.

Hill kicked off the campaign with a top-points score at Donington Park, before a season-long battle ensued with fellow BMW driver Colin Turkington.

The pair would swap positions at the top on several occasions, but with six front-row starts to his name, Hill’s consistency saw him clinch the honours during the Brands Hatch finale, as fifth place was enough to put him 20 points ahead of Turkington.

With a solid showing throughout the campaign, Hill put his BMW 330e M Sport into the top six on nine occasions in 2022, securing those crucial points in every qualifying session in his bid for the accolade.

“I’m very pleased to have won the Goodyear Wingfoot Award,” said Hill. “We’ve had a fast qualifying car all year and that’s a good reward for WSR and ROKiT MB Motorsport.

“We worked our little socks off in qualifying this year. I think the only time he qualified outside the top ten was at Oulton Park, when I had a little mishap with Tom Chilton but, nevertheless, it’s been a fantastic year of qualifying and nice to win this lovely trophy.

“I cannot thank ROKiT MB Motorsport and West Surrey Racing enough for everything we have done and achieved this year. This team truly feels like home, and I am so proud of that. I feel I have come on massively as a driver this year and hopefully, we can continue that next year. Thank you to the fans for being so supportive and to all my friends, family, and partners for making it all possible.”
