LASER TOOLS RACING WITH MB MOTORSPORT AIM TO END THE SEASON ON A HIGH
Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport head to Brands Hatch this weekend (7/8 October) to contest the final event of the 2023 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, and aim to end the campaign on a high at the Kent circuit.
The team, and their WSR-run BMW 330e M Sport, will make the trip to the 2.43-miles Grand Prix configuration of the iconic Brands Hatch circuit. Famed for its combination of dips, cambers, fearsome corners and hills, the circuit is still considered one of the world’s most renowned racing venues.
This year’s campaign has been one to remember for the Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport team and their driver, Jake Hill. Five race wins and eleven trips to the podium across the season mean they head to the finale 3rd in the Drivers’ Championship standings.
With second place in the standings up for grabs this weekend, Hill currently sits 23 points behind reigning champion Tom Ingram (BRISTOL STREET MOTORS with EXCELR8) and if Hill achieves the runners-up spot, it would be a career-best finish in the BTCC – but third place would still equal his highest finish, 3rd (2022).
Last time out at Silverstone (23/24 September), the team collected their fifth victory of the 2023 BTCC season in the opening race before technical issues, whilst leading in race two, means Hill and the team departed the circuit with a feeling of ‘what might have been’ and head to Brands looking for redemption.
With nothing to lose this weekend, Hill and the team will be looking to end the season on a high and add to their tally of wins and podiums.
“I can’t believe we’re already at the final round of the season,” said Hill. “It’s been a year to remember, with my most amount wins in a year and some fantastic races along the way. It hasn’t been without its challenges though but these have taught us some valuable lessons which can only make us stronger.
“Brands Hatch is my home event and a circuit I love to race at – it’s my goal to finally get a win here in front of my home support! We go into this weekend looking to end the season in style so we’ll be going full attack from the get-go and try to score some more wins and podiums.
“A huge thank you to Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport and West Surrey Racing for their efforts all year at the circuits and behind the scenes – my 330e M Sport has been on rails recently so I’m extremely excited for this weekend.”
Being 3rd in the standings, Hill’s hybrid allows him 5 seconds (per lap) in qualifying and three laps of hybrid use through race one – with the results of races one and two setting the hybrid allowance for the following race.
All three races take place on Sunday, with live coverage available on ITV4 and online at ITVX. The three races are scheduled for 1130, 1440, and 1725 respectively. Live timing across the weekend is available here.
