Power Maxed Racing closing in on second driver

9th March 2016

Power Maxed Racing is close to agreeing terms with a driver to fill its remaining race seat for the 2016 Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship.

PMR enjoyed a solid 2015 BTCC campaign. With Dave Newsham and Josh Cook behind the wheel of its two Chevrolet Cruzes, the squad placed eighth in the HiQ Teams’ standings and third in the Independents Team Trophy, with an impressive podium for Cook at Rockingham the highlight.

For 2016, however, it’s all change. Newsham has switched disciplines with the team to embark upon a full season in the British Rallycross Championship – vacating a berth that has since been occupied by Hunter Abbott.

PMR has revealed that a deal is now also close for a replacement for Cook, who left this week for pastures new at MG Triple Eight Racing.

Adam Weaver, Power Maxed Racing Team Principal, took the opportunity to wish the departing Cook well.

“On the one hand, we are disappointed that we couldn’t continue our work with Josh,” Weaver said. “He is a promising talent and has a great career in front of him.

“We are, however, delighted that he will remain in the BTCC. It is one of the world’s finest championships, and drivers like Josh will keep the racing as exciting as ever.”
