BTCC speeds into Silverstone

The penultimate race weekend of 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship is underway at Silverstone this weekend (20/21 September), as the title race heads into its decisive final stretch.

Seasoned veteran Tom Chilton (Team VERTU) headlined a commanding team one-two at Donington Park GP last time out, claiming victory in the weekend's opening encounter. Championship leader and teammate Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) stood alongside the 18-time winner on the rostrum, further extending his advantage at the summit with a triumph in race three to complement his second-placed finish in the opener and fourth place in Sunday's middle race.

All three races saw the #80 collect additional points to bolster his impressive tally, securing a point for leading in each encounter plus the fastest lap in the weekend's finale.

Before the all-important points-paying races, Saturday delivered added excitement as the heavens repeatedly opened and closed throughout qualifying. Team VERTU and the Hyundai i30 N proved the benchmark combination, placing four cars in the Quick Six session. Only Daryl DeLeon (WSR) and Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) broke the manufacturer's stranglehold, securing fourth and sixth on the grid respectively.

Cammish – currently second in the Goodyear Wingfoot Award – also added a victory to his account as the 36-year-old battles for third in the Drivers' standings, holding a 16-point advantage over teammate Daniel Rowbottom (NAPA Racing UK) in fourth.

Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) endured a challenging weekend, with Ingram's championship lead nearly doubling at the Leicestershire venue, growing from 17 to 32 points. Qualifying tenth after misjudging the conditions, a collision with teammate Rowbottom in race two left the #116 classified eighth despite earlier battling for podium contention. The title contender's sole rostrum visit came in a thrilling duel with his championship rival, where the Team VERTU ace narrowly edged him for the win.

The Independents' category remains fiercely contested, with Mikey Doble (Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing) maintaining a two-point lead over Restart Racing's Daniel Lloyd, who sits just one point ahead of teammate Chris Smiley. Meanwhile, the Jack Sears Trophy continues as a hotly disputed battle, with DeLeon narrowly holding a 14-point advantage over WSR stablemate Charles Rainford following his triple category triumph.

With 134 points still available across the final two weekends, Silverstone provides the perfect stage for the penultimate chapter of the 2025 season. Teams and drivers will be looking to lay down a marker ahead of the championship finale at Brands Hatch in two weeks' time (04/05 October).

Silverstone Spectacular

The championship moves to Silverstone's National circuit, a challenging 1.64-mile layout that has witnessed many championship-defining moments throughout its storied history. The venue remains a favourite with drivers and fans alike, its high-speed straights and heavy braking zones creating the perfect recipe for relentless door-to-door combat.

Local hero Tom Ingram (Team VERTU) will enjoy considerable home support as he seeks to build upon his commanding championship advantage, with the #80 carrying impressive form into the weekend. Ingram boasts more victories than any current driver on the National layout with eight triumphs, while teammate Tom Chilton (Team VERTU) sits closest behind with five wins to his name.

Despite that remarkable record, no driver has delivered stronger performances at the Northamptonshire venue over the past five years than reigning BTCC champion Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport). The BMW 330i M Sport pilot has claimed four victories during that period, with the German manufacturer leading the way for both wins and podium visits across the same timeframe.

When it comes to outright pace on race day, Ash Sutton (NAPA Racing UK) has proven the benchmark. Having set five fastest laps at the circuit, only Ingram and Hill have registered more than one, as they chase the Ford Focus ace for supremacy. With the championship battle reaching its crucial phase, anything can unfold around the legendary Silverstone venue.

13 – Lucky for some

Daryl DeLeon topped the opening Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship free practice session at Silverstone as an incredible 13 drivers dipped under Dan Cammish's existing qualifying lap record.

WSR's DeLeon has starred during his sophomore season in the BTCC, having already scored an outright victory at Brands Hatch earlier in the year, and now the 20-year-old is targeting the Jack Sears Trophy crown with six races of the season remaining.

DeLeon's late lap in the #2 BMW 330i M Sport pipped NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish by just 0.036s, as the Anglo-Filipino produced the fastest ever BTCC lap around the 1.64-mile National layout.

Team VERTU's Adam Morgan was third followed by the LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR duo of Aiden Moffat and Charles Rainford, with the latter looking to close down DeLeon's lead in the JST standings during this penultimate race weekend.

Restart Racing's Daniel Lloyd was sandwiched between Team VERTU's Senna Proctor and Tom Chilton on the timesheets, whilst the NAPA Racing UK pair Dan Rowbottom and Ash Sutton completed the top ten.

Josh Cook, Gordon Shedden (both TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) and reigning champion Jake Hill (Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport) completed the list of 13 drivers that clocked a time faster than Cammish's effort from 2020, whilst the top 17 cars in FP1 were separated by just 0.784s.

FP2 commences at 1205, whilst Qualifying for Round 25 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes place at 1530 and will be streamed LIVE via the ITV Sport YouTube channel.

Goodyear tyre freedom promises intense action at Silverstone

The Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship arrives at Silverstone’s National Circuit this weekend (20/21 September), where Goodyear tyre choices will play a pivotal role across rounds 25, 26 and 27 of the season. The fast-paced, short layout at the Northamptonshire venue presents unique challenges with its predominantly right-hand layout and blistering pace through the high-speed Copse.

Drivers will receive one set of Goodyear's white-stickered soft compound tyres and two sets of the yellow-stickered medium compound tyres for the weekend races. Additionally, teams can deploy up to three sets of carryover tyres from previous events, with freedom of compound choice in qualifying.

Silverstone's compact national configuration creates a unique technical challenge, featuring predominantly right-hand corners with just one left-hander. This layout demands specialist setup approaches that maximise tyre performance through the circuit's distinctive characteristics.

Michael Butler, Goodyear's BTCC Event Leader, explains the weekend's strategic elements: "Silverstone presents one of our most fascinating technical challenges of the season. The circuit's right-hand bias means teams must optimise their Goodyear tyres for sustained lateral loading, particularly through the rapid section from Woodcote, through Copse, Maggotts and onto the Wellington Straight. The short lap time intensifies everything, so race strategies become even more critical.

"The carryover tyre freedom adds another compelling strategic dimension. Teams can select from their accumulated compound inventory and deploy these tactically in qualifying. With Silverstone notorious for producing some of the closest racing of the season, every marginal gain from tyre strategy could prove decisive."

Talking to Goodyear at the start of the season, Árón Taylor-Smith (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) explained Silverstone’s unique setup philosophy: "Silverstone is a really odd one. You only set the car up to turn right because there's only one left hander. You'll have loads of negative camber on the outside left for mid-corner grip, but the inside right will be stood upright for traction and braking. The setup is really different compared to any other track."

The intensity of racing at Silverstone amplifies the importance of tyre performance. The 2024 Independent's Trophy winner described the racing dynamic: "To drive, I describe it as frantic because in a race, you're never more than a car length ahead or behind. You're always nose to tail because the simplicity of the track makes the racecraft that little bit more exciting. The racecraft is what makes or breaks you, and makes you win or lose."

Tom Chilton wins Goodyear Wingfoot Award at Donington GP

Tom Chilton (Team VERTU) managed to snatch pole last time out at Donington Park from his teammate Tom Ingram, who is currently leading the season-long Goodyear Wingfoot Award standings, and will look to strategically choose his tyres in Silverstone to extend his lead.

At the penultimate event of the season, Tom Ingram will want to use his tyres strategically as he has the opportunity to be unreachable in the season-long Goodyear Wingfoot Award. The Hyundai i30 N star has led the Goodyear Wingfoot Award standings since taking pole position at Oulton Park in June, and has maintained momentum through the season, not qualifying any lower than fourth position at any event so far this year. He leads the standings by 14 points from Dan Cammish (NAPA Racing UK) heading into the Silverstone weekend.

The Goodyear Wingfoot Award rewards the fastest qualifying lap at each event. Drivers accumulate points based on their qualifying results throughout the season, with the highest scorer ultimately crowned the 2025 Goodyear Wingfoot Award winner.

Team VERTU readies for Silverstone clash

Team VERTU will seek to strengthen its bid for top honours in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship as the series heads for Silverstone for what promises to be a pivotal weekend in the race for the 2025 title.

Another strong performance last time out at Donington Park allowed Tom Ingram to extend his advantage in the Drivers’ Championship to 32 points, whilst Team VERTU now leads the Teams’ Championship by just two points.

With a gap of just one point to top spot in the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ standings, the EXCELR8-run squad heads into the final six races of the year chasing a hat-trick of titles in what is proving to be its strongest season to date in Britain’s premier racing series.

Ingram has been a model of consistency this season, with no fewer than 16 podium finishes from the 24 races run so far - including five wins.

Alongside that, Ingram has been the master of qualifying despite the fact he has had less turbo boost that his rivals for much of the season, with the 2022 champion being the only driver to make the Quick Six at every meeting.

Having opened up a handy lead over Ash Sutton in the title race, Ingram will now look to maintain the impressive form that has carried him to the top of the standings with his ultimate goal being to add to the eight wins he has secured at Silverstone in the past.

Tom Chilton is second best Team VERTU driver in the standings having scored his second win of the year at Donington Park; a result that allowed him to strengthen his quest for a top six championship finish.

In what is already his best season since joining the team back in 2022, Chilton has proven to be a regular contender towards the sharp end of the grid and has his eyes firmly fixed on trying to close the gap to the drivers ahead in the title race.

Like Ingram, Chilton has enjoyed plenty of success at Silverstone in the past with no fewer than five wins, including the first of his BTCC career back in 2004.

Adam Morgan lies eight points behind Chilton in seventh place in the standings after also taking to the podium at Donington Park, where he finishes as runner-up for the fourth time this season.

On his return to front-wheel drive this season, Morgan has wasted little time in getting comfortable at the wheel of the Hyundai i30 Fastback N and has had a key role to play in helping the team to challenge on three fronts this season.

With five Silverstone podium finishes to his name, Morgan goes into the weekend chasing a first win at the Home of British Motorsport as he looks to also climb up the championship order.

Senna Proctor meanwhile endured a challenging weekend at Donington Park last time out, but remains tenth in the standings; an impressive performance given that he only joined the driver line-up ahead of event four at Thruxton.

Proctor’s strong form since returning to action means he is currently on course to at least equal his best ever championship finish, and he heads to Silverstone looking to try and add to the two podium finishes he has secured already this year.

Silverstone is one of the circuits where Proctor has yet to step onto the rostrum, giving him added motivation for what promises to be a frenetic weekend of racing around the short National layout.

Qualifying this weekend airs live on YouTube at 15:30 on Saturday, with the three races on Sunday being shown on ITV4 at 11:30, 14:40 and 17:10.

Tom Chilton, #3 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “I have fond memories of Silverstone going right back to my first BTCC win – which seems like a lifetime ago!

“Having scored my most recent win last time out at Donington Park, I’m returning to the circuit on a bit of a high this weekend and feel confident of fighting for some more silverware.

“On a personal level, there is still the opportunity to climb higher in the standings so it’s important that I gain as many points as possible from the weekend.

“If I’m able to do that, then it will also help for the Teams’ Championship and strengthen our position ahead of Finals Day.”

Senna Proctor, #18 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “Donington Park was a bit of a tricky weekend for me, so I’m heading into Silverstone looking to try and get back into the top six, where we’ve been at every other circuit since returning to the grid.

“Although Silverstone hasn’t traditionally been my best circuit, I’m going there this weekend armed with a better car than I’ve had before and one that I know has been really strong in recent seasons.

“I’m confident that this can be my strongest weekend at the circuit to date, and we can not only strengthen our place in the top ten of the championship, but also look to try and close in on our rivals ahead.”

Adam Morgan, #3 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “Donington was a bit of a mixed bag for me with a tough final race, but it was great to be back on the podium in race two to pick up some more silverware.

“Although Silverstone is a circuit where I’ve yet to win in the BTCC, it’s one where I’ve scored plenty of podium finishes in the past and I’m feeling confident about adding to it this weekend.

“The team continues to give me a fantastic car and it would be fantastic to reward my crew with a victory before the end of the year – and I’ll be pushing hard to do it during Sunday’s three races.”

Tom Ingram, #80 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “Donington Park was a fantastic weekend for us last time out, and it means we arrive at Silverstone this weekend in a really strong position in the championship.

“It’s a circuit where we have traditionally gone well in recent years, and is also one where I’ve had plenty of success personally during my career so I’m feeling confident about what we can achieve.

“As I’ve said a number of times this season, the team has worked hard to give me a car that has been fantastic every time we’ve rolled it out of the truck, regardless of the circuit.

“With that in mind, the goal this weekend is to adopt the same approach that has served us well so far, which is maximise every session and ensure we pick up as many points as possible across the three races.”

Silverstone calls for WSR quartet with BTCC run-in heating up

With just two events of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship remaining, the series returns to Silverstone this weekend (20/21 September), where championship battles will intensify at the legendary venue that first welcomed the UK's premier motorsport series back in 1959.

The Northamptonshire circuit holds particular significance for WSR, having been the scene of their debut race win in 1981 and their first BTCC success in 1998. Now Jake Hill, Charles Rainford, Aiden Moffat and Daryl DeLeon all aim to add to the reigning champions' long list of successes at the venue aboard their BMW 330i M Sports.

Hill, who has three victories so far in 2025, has been one of the outstanding performers on the 1.64-mile National layout in recent times with race wins in each of the past four seasons and eight top-five finishes from his last 13 starts there.

The Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport BMW driver currently sits fifth in the championship, but is within touching distance of a top-three spot and looking to build on recent momentum.

One of the most hotly contested battles of this campaign is the fight for the Jack Sears Trophy. WSR's DeLeon and LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Rainford sit atop the standings. Only Sam Osborne and Dexter Patterson remain within mathematical reach, sitting 45 points and 101 points behind DeLeon with 120 still available.

Their BMWs have been near-inseparable in the title fight across the season, but a triple class win for the #2 last time out at Donington Park has edged the Anglo-Filipino into a 14-point lead over Rainford with six races to go.

DeLeon, who is based in Cambridgeshire, scored his first BTCC points finish at Silverstone in 2023 and is aiming to use his upturn in form since the summer break to build his advantage still further.

Rainford, who has four Jack Sears Trophy race wins to his name in 2025, has never competed in the BTCC at Silverstone as he is in his rookie season. The Sussex racer, however, was victorious at the circuit last year in the Carrera Cup GB support event.

His LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR team-mate, Moffat, was a winner at Silverstone in 2018 and produced one of the drives of his career the following season as he stormed from 29th on the grid to second place in a wet race.

The Dalkeith racer is just six points away from a top-10 position in the standings and is targeting a strong weekend as he aims to complete the season in his best championship position since 2021.

Jake Hill, Laser Tools Racing with MB Motorsport: "After narrowly missing out on the podium places at Donington, where we showed some great pace all weekend, we head to Silverstone looking to go that next step further and challenge for those results we know we can achieve with the pace we have worked so hard to find. Silverstone is always a highlight of the calendar, and we have had some fantastic results here spanning all the way back to 2021! We will be giving it everything this weekend to be battling at the front, and I can’t wait to hit the track."

Charles Rainford, LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR: “We’re at the business end of the season now and I have two main targets; to make sure I finish in the top 10 of the overall championship and to get back ahead in the Jack Sears Trophy. Ultimately it’s one non-finish for Daryl and we’ll be more or less level-pegging it, which should make it a great battle. I won at Silverstone in the Carrera Cup GB last year so it should be a fairly straightforward adaptation to the rear-wheel-drive BMW here. Let’s see how we go.”

Aiden Moffat, LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR: “It’s always good to come back to a track where I’ve won before in the BTCC, but if anything, the memory of the wet race, where I came through from the back to the podium, is even stronger. It’s been a strange second half to the season because the BMW has always felt good, we’ve just had some things go against us, like the timing of the rain in Donington qualifyin. If everything goes to plan, there’s no reason not to have a good event.”

Daryl DeLeon, WSR: “Things have really accelerated for me since the summer break. My qualifying and race results have been better as we’ve dialled in the BMW on a more consistent basis and I’ve managed to build my lead in the Jack Sears Trophy over Charles. I think it’s a battle that’s going to go the distance, so I have to make sure I keep stacking up the points at Silverstone while also trying to stay in the top 10 in the overall championship.”

Confidence high as Corolla quartet head to Silverstone

Buoyed by its best performance of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship campaign to-date, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA is approaching the penultimate event of the season at Silverstone this weekend (20/21 September) looking to build upon its recent upturn in form.

Between them, Gordon Shedden, Árón Taylor-Smith, Josh Cook and Max Buxton bagged six top ten finishes last time out at Donington Park, where the former – three times a champion in the UK’s premier motor racing series – ascended the podium for the second time this year.

The Scot is aiming to carry that champagne-spraying form forward to the Northamptonshire circuit – where he has previously notched up three wins and four further trips to the rostrum – while six of stablemate Taylor-Smith’s 22 career podiums in the BTCC have been achieved at Silverstone.

The compact yet challenging 1.64-mile ‘National’ circuit was the scene of the reigning Independents’ Trophy winner’s maiden top three finish in the series, and 12 months ago, the Irishman qualified on pole position there, only to subsequently be stripped of the top spot on the starting grid due to a post-session ride-height issue.

All four Toyota drivers can equally take great encouragement from the Corolla’s prior performances at the track, tallying no fewer than five victories. All four will be bolstered by the full complement of TOCA Turbo Boost (TTB) in both qualifying and race one.

Following Saturday afternoon’s qualifying session at 15:30 – available to watch on ITV Sport’s YouTube channel – every moment of Sunday’s doorhandle-to-doorhandle action will be shown live on ITV4 and ITVX from 10:45. The full race day schedule will similarly be streamed live around the globe on the BTCC YouTube channel, with the exception of the UK and North America, where there are existing broadcast agreements in-place.

Gordon Shedden, Driver, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, said: “We go to Silverstone off the back of our most competitive showing of the season so far at Donington Park. The devil is in the detail, as they say, and having refined the package even further since then, hopefully we can have another decent run.

“The ‘National’ layout might look relatively simple, but the short nature of the lap means you have to be absolutely on top of your game and inch-perfect in qualifying as the times tend to be exceedingly tight – that makes it one of the most important Saturdays of the season, and it’s essential to maximise every element. We need to make sure we start off on the front foot in that respect; we haven’t always managed that this year, but doing so makes the whole weekend so much easier.

“The racing is invariably close there, too, and while it’s fair to say we would welcome some changeable conditions or anything else that might throw an extra dimension into the mix, the Corolla has a good prior record at Silverstone come rain or shine. It would be nice to keep that form going and come away with another podium if we can...”

Árón Taylor-Smith, Driver, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, said: “Silverstone has historically been a track that has favoured both the Toyota as well as myself, and I think the team is in a great place after our best weekend of the year at Donington Park. Racing at Silverstone is always a little bit special, and I feel it will really play to the strengths of the Corolla’s chassis – the long-radius corners with the focus on getting a good exit are a great match for the Toyota’s core attributes.

“The car is in the best window we’ve had it all season, and I genuinely think we can challenge. We narrowly missed out on a podium at Donington, and I feel like we have a more competitive package going into this weekend thanks to the three-week prep time in-between. It’s also nice that the team has had a bit of a chance to catch up on some much-needed sleep after everybody’s non-stop efforts of late.

“Now, I’m feeling excited to push on and try to close out the season on a high with some really strong results. Between the four of us, I think we can extract every little bit out of this car and put on a great show.”

Josh Cook, Driver, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, said: “Since my last-minute return to the Corolla at Donington Park, I’ve had a full test day at Snetterton, which enabled us to iron out a lot of the issues we encountered that weekend and I feel we’re now collectively in a much better place. We made some good headway in getting the car closer to my liking, and I’m consequently a lot more comfortable in it.

“I had a relatively successful weekend at Silverstone in the Toyota last year, and while the new regulations for 2025 mean you can’t rely too much upon historical form or results, they do inevitably give you a bit of a boost. I’m also obviously nowhere near any kind of championship battle having missed a number of races this year, which gives us the opportunity to venture down some avenues and experiment with a few set-up options that we might not otherwise have done for fear of taking too much of a risk.

“Silverstone is very much a power circuit, and having plenty of TTB available in qualifying and race one can only be to our advantage. The margins are always so fine there that if you don’t get everything spot-on, you can find yourself in for a tough weekend, but I’m confident in my ability to deliver a lap when it counts and all-in-all, I’m going there in pretty upbeat mood.”

Max Buxton, Driver, TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, said: “I’m incredibly excited to get back into the thick of it at Silverstone! We had a really productive test last week, which was a big help in terms of the additional track time. The format of a race weekend is so quick-fire that you never really get the opportunity to analyse anything properly, but we completed a lot of laps in the test and got to try out some things on the car that we wouldn’t normally have chance to do. For a rookie like myself, the benefit of that kind of extended running really can’t be overstated.

“It’ll be my first time on-track at Silverstone, but I’ve been putting in the hours on the simulator, which has been super-useful, and I feel like we’re in a strong place going into the event. I can’t wait to get stuck in around what looks to be a short but highly technical layout, and I’m fully focussed on doing everything I can to make it my most successful BTCC outing yet.”

Where to Watch: Silverstone

The 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship returns to the famed Silverstone circuit this weekend (20/21 September) for the ninth and penultimate race weekend of the current campaign, with the three races taking place on the National layout. All new Junior championship to join BTCC package in 2027

TOCA – organiser of the BTCC – has confirmed plans to welcome an all-new Junior championship to its popular support package from 2027.

Having ended its association with the previously proposed organisers and following the review of expressions of interest, TOCA has today (17 September) announced that Power Maxed Racing will be designing, developing and building the all-new fully bespoke car.

Sister company, Power Maxed Motorsport, will undertake all aspects of the new programme, including the role of championship promoter.

The full specifications of the car and details of the championship (including the championship name) will be released over the coming months and has already received outline approval for 2027 by MSUK, subject to the normal final ratification process. The cars will be designed and built to significantly exceed the current stringent safety standards, for racing by junior drivers from the age of 14.

All races will take place on the support bill to the BTCC, ensuring that young drivers, teams and all stakeholders benefit from the huge public trackside audience, as well as the substantial and unrivalled media and television coverage.

Power Maxed Racing has become one of the BTCC’s most popular and much-admired teams over the last decade, securing overall race wins and podiums as well as many Independent victories and titles.

The experienced outfit claimed the Independent Drivers’, Independent Teams’ and Jack Sears Trophy honours in 2024, and is bidding to retain that Drivers’ title in 2025 with Mikey Doble.

Although its BTCC facility recently experienced a devastating fire, the Junior programme was always going to be based off-site in a totally separate facility, so the fire has no real impact on this project.

Power Maxed Racing is now in the final design process of the car ahead of a thorough test and build programme next year.

Alan Gow, BTCC Chief Executive, said: “We are pleased to announce the introduction of a dedicated Junior championship within the BTCC package, commencing in 2027.

“Having received expressions of interest it was clear that Power Maxed Racing were best placed to independently develop, build and supply the bespoke car for this exciting new championship.

Silverstone beckons for Toyota's Max Buxton

Max Buxton is looking to make his mark inside the points-paying positions this weekend (20-21 September) as the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship takes centre stage at Silverstone.

The world-famous Northamptonshire venue is the setting for the penultimate event of the 2025 season, and it’s a circuit that the TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA driver is hoping will yield his best showing to date.

Buxton made his debut in the UK’s premier motorsport series at Croft last month and made an instant impression as he finished on the fringes of the top ten. From there, the 20-year-old then enjoyed strong outings in both subsequent events at Knockhill and Donington Park.

Now having had the benefit of taking stock of how far his development has accelerated in recent weeks, Buxton is relishing the prospect of taking on the 1.64-mile National circuit.

The Lancastrian has reason to be confident too, with Silverstone having been a happy hunting ground for the Speedworks Motorsport-prepared Toyota Corolla GR Sport down the years, with the ‘hot hatch’ notching up no fewer than five victories and five further podium finishes.

Max Buxton said: “I’ve had a few weeks to refresh and reflect on what was a busy debut month and now I’m more than ready to get back to the action; and to do so at a place like Silverstone is extra special.

“The little break since Donington Park has allowed me to work with the team to see what we did and didn’t do well over recent rounds and that’s been really productive. We’ve been moving in the right direction and the aim is to continue that momentum at Silverstone.

“Given the nature of the National circuit, I know I’m in for a busy race day as the racing is so close. The Toyota Corolla has a strong record there and with the maximum amount of boost available to me, I’m optimistic we can be in for a strong three races.

“As always, building up that bank of knowledge and experiences remains the ultimate goal however I’d love to get back in the points this weekend. Both me and the team will certainly be giving our all to do just that!”

The weekend’s track action at Silverstone will see two free practice sessions play out on Saturday before qualifying gets underway at 15:30. Sunday sees a trio of races take place at 11:30, 14:40 and 17:10 respectively; with all three contests being broadcast live on ITV4 and ITVX in the UK, the Racer Network in North America and on the BTCC YouTube Channel anywhere else in the world.

Every Title Fight: BTCC Jack Sears Trophy and Goodyear Wingfoot Award

With just two weekends remaining in the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship, the battles within the championship’s competitions are set to intensify.

The Jack Sears Trophy fight is shaping up as a two-horse race between two stablemates, while the Drivers’ Standings leader has shown his pace and has edged clear in the Goodyear Wingfoot Award thanks to another season of standout qualifying performances.

As the margins tighten and every point proves crucial, the stage is set for another heart-racing conclusion to the year, kicking off at Silverstone (20-21 September).

Jack Sears Trophy: DeLeon Leads The Charge

Daryl DeLeon has established himself as the man to beat in the Jack Sears Trophy, leading WSR stablemate Charles Rainford by 14 points with 369 on the board. The Anglo-Filipino driver's eight wins and seven second places demonstrate the kind of pace and consistency that wins championships in only his second full season of BTCC racing.

Rainford, on 355 points, has kept the pressure on throughout with four victories of his own, while Sam Osborne (324 points) remains within mathematical striking distance thanks to his five wins this term.

Goodyear Wingfoot Award: Ingram's Qualifying Mastery

Ingram has risen to the top in the Goodyear Wingfoot Award this season, building a commanding 14-point lead over Cammish’s 118 points through his qualifying excellence.

The Team VERTU man's pole positions at Croft and Oulton Park, along with front row starts at Snetterton, Thruxton, Knockhill and Donington Park GP, are all a part of an ever-impressive run that has seen Ingram in every Quick Six session so far in 2025, showcasing the pace that has made him such a qualifying specialist.

Also filling the #80 with confidence will be that the 2022 champion and the Hyundai i30 N took pole position and two race wins at the very same circuit one year ago.

With momentum shifting between contenders and margins razor-thin across multiple championships, the final two weekends promise to deliver championship entertainment worthy of the BTCC's unpredictable, edge-of-the-seat action.
