Power Maxed Racing to run two Cupras at Knockhill

Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing will run two Cupras for Rounds 19, 20 and 21 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Knockhill this weekend (16/17 August), and for the rest of the season, having received overwhelming support from the BTCC community and beyond following the devastating fire that recently ripped through its premises.

In an open letter from PMR Team Principal Adam Weaver, he stated ‘On Saturday, disaster struck Power Maxed Racing and the wider Power Maxed business, with a force we could never have imagined. A fire ripped through our facilities, destroying absolutely everything – our product factory, our stock warehouse, and our race team’.

Incredibly, he went on to vow ‘Yet, in true PMR fashion, we refuse to stand still. This weekend, we will still take to the grid at Knockhill with at least one car. It will be the biggest challenge in our history to have a car ready in time, but we will do it’.

A huge reaction of unwavering support has since followed, and just 24 hours after releasing the aforementioned open letter, the BTCC and PMR are delighted to confirm that the squad will be on the grid this weekend with two Cupras.

The first car is thanks to the gratitude of the amazing Patterson family, which owned the previously Scott Sumpton-run Cupra, whilst the second is down to Un-Limited Motorsport, which has taken the decision to support PMR by standing down one of its cars most recently driven by Stephen Jelley.

Due to exceptional circumstances, TOCA – organisers of the BTCC – has taken the decision to permit the lease of this car from Un-Limited Motorsport to PMR without it affecting their TBL allocation, and PMR would like to thank all parties for their incredible support and swift action in this matter.

A huge amount of work still lies ahead for Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing to be ready in time for the weekend, with myriad challenges having the potential to delay proceedings at such short notice, but the squad is hugely confident and fully committed to being on-track.

One slight positive, in an otherwise heartbreaking event, is that the team’s transporters were parked away from the buildings and not damaged in the fire – meaning their awnings and some basic equipment needed to run the cars at an event are still intact.

Adam Weaver, PMR Team Principal, said: “The outpouring of support since the weekend has been nothing short of incredible and merely underlines my previous point – the BTCC is the most amazing motorsport community anywhere in the world.

“We still have an unfathomable amount of work ahead of this weekend, and beyond of course, but to be able to say that we will be on the grid with two cars is arguably one of the proudest moments of my career and the most poignant and significant moment in the history of Power Maxed Racing. Thank you to Un-Limited Motorsport, the Patterson’s and the wider BTCC family – this simply wouldn’t have been possible without their support.”

Un-Limited Motorsport loan Cupra to Power Maxed Racing

The fledgling Un-Limited Motorsport squad has taken the selfless decision to loan one of its Cupras to Power Maxed Racing following the devastating fire that destroyed the latter’s facility and race team operation at the weekend.

Kent-based Un-Limited Motorsport wanted to offer a huge gesture of support to PMR by standing down one of its cars, most recently driven by Stephen Jelley.

Due to exceptional circumstances, TOCA – organisers of the BTCC – has taken the decision to permit the lease of this car from Un-Limited Motorsport to PMR without it affecting their TBL allocation, with PMR thanking all parties for their incredible support and swift action.

The team will still field two Cupras at Knockhill and beyond, with Nic Hamilton (Powder Monkey Brewing Co with Esidock) and Dexter Patterson (ROKiT Racing with Un-Limited Motorsport) continuing their respective BTCC campaigns.

Bob Sharpless, Un-Limited Motorsport, said: “Hearing the news that Power Maxed Racing had been destroyed by a huge fire struck a chord with us and everyone within the motorsport community. We know how difficult it is to build a business and a race team, as well as the human story behind such devastation, and we wanted to see if there was anything we could do to support.

“We’ve been discussing the situation with business partner Matt Edwards and Adam Weaver, and it was clear that Un-Limited loaning a car to PMR would be of huge significance in helping the team get back on its feet. We are looking forward to the weekend, where we will compete against each other as hard as we always do, in true testament to the spirit of the BTCC.”

Adam Weaver, Power Maxed Racing, said: “The outpouring of support since the weekend has been nothing short of incredible and merely underlines my previous point – the BTCC is the most amazing motorsport community anywhere in the world.

Rounds 19, 20 and 21 of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship take place at Knockhill this weekend (16/17 August).

Power Maxed Racing: Nothing left but our fighting spirit

AN OPEN LETTER FROM POWER MAXED RACING

Dear Partners, Competitors, Fans and most of all Friends,

Devastated just doesn’t cover it.

On Saturday, disaster struck Power Maxed Racing and the wider Power Maxed Business, with a force we could never have imagined. A fire ripped through our facilities, destroying absolutely everything – our product factory, our stock warehouse, and our race team.

The heat was so intense it melted solid gearbox casings, reduced entire engines to warped molten metal, and left nothing but ash and twisted steel of the buildings. Years of work, equipment, and investment were destroyed in a matter of hours. All tools, spare parts, and components have been lost.

We are starting again from nothing.

Yet, in true PMR fashion, we refuse to stand still. This weekend, we will still take to the grid at Knockhill with at least one car. It will be the biggest challenge in our history to have a car ready in time, but we will do it. Sleep can wait.

We want to fly the flag for all our brands and partners and show them what a promise to deliver really looks like, this is how committed we are as a company and as a group of people to deliver on our promises.

To make it happen – and to rebuild for the future – we are likely to need help from the motorsport community and the BTCC family within that – it is the greatest community on earth, and we have no doubts it will deliver.

Seeing a car go out in FP1 on Saturday will be one of the proudest moments of my life. It will show the tenacity of our team, our partners, and the incredible motorsport community. We are on the phones begging and borrowing to make it happen. This weekend isn’t just about racing, it’s about proving what can be achieved when people pull together and NEVER give up. I sincerely hope that by demonstrating this, it can also motivate others who may be facing difficulties in their own lives, ensuring that some positive outcomes can emerge from challenging situations.

Thanks to the incredible generosity of the Patterson family – well known to BTCC fans – we have borrowed their recently purchased, ex-Sumpton BTCC car. Normally, preparing and wrapping a race car is a 14-day job. We have less than five days, with no premises and no tools so this will be fun!

We are committed to delivering a competitive car on the grid this Sunday, demonstrating what can be achieved with a relentless spirit, hard work and the support from Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing, our partners, but also the wider motorsport community.

Our factory may be gone, but our spirit is very much alive. If you can help in any way, no matter how small, please get in touch. Together, we can rebuild from the ashes – and show the world what true motorsport resilience looks like.

Never give up and watch this space.

Your mad friend leading an equally mad, but amazing group of people,

Adam.

Max Buxton scores points on BTCC debut at Croft

Max Buxton enjoyed a dream debut in the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship at Croft this past weekend (2-3 August) as he delivered a mature performance that culminated in him impressively scoring points in a frenetic finale.

Stepping up to the UK’s premier motorsport series with TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA, the 19-year-old kicked off what promises to be a fledgling touring car career in style as he completed all three races, notably finishing on the fringes of the top ten in the final contest.

Arriving at the North Yorkshire venue having had the benefit of completing the required test mileage in his Toyota Corolla GR Sport, Buxton hit the ground running on Saturday morning as he enjoyed a trouble-free run in both free practice sessions.

Gaining familiarity with the various procedures and processes that take place throughout practice, Buxton - who is the youngest driver on the grid - performed admirably, which in-turn set him up for an encouraging maiden qualifying session later that afternoon.

Hustling his front-wheel-drive machine to 21st on the grid for race one, the Lancashire-based racer produced a faultless drive in Sunday’s opening encounter as he made his way up the order to take the chequered flag in 19th – setting competitive lap times once into the groove.

The talented teenager was on the move again in race two as he enjoyed several captivating battles before crossing the line in 18th.

Buxton’s crowning glory of the weekend came in an action-packed race three, which is renowned for producing high drama as the grid is partially reversed based off the final classification from race two.

Despite starting on row nine, Buxton found himself in the midst of multiple wheel-to-wheel battles from the get-go. Crucially, the series rookie held his own and even more importantly he avoided a number of incidents that could have ended his race on the spot.

Utilising all of his ever-expanding experience to navigate his way up the order, Buxton crossed the line in 12th overall which netted him four championship points.

Max Buxton: “My first BTCC weekend is in the books and I’m super happy to be going home with some points. The whole experience has been an absolute dream come true and I had so much fun - especially in that last race!

“Going into the weekend I said that I wanted to make progress every time we went out onto the track and we did just that. I worked through my programme on Saturday and then had my first taste of qualifying, which was really exciting and insightful.

“The conditions at the beginning of race one were a little tricky, especially being on the hard tyre, so to bring it home inside the top 20 was great and from there I just continued to build and learn. Race three was chaotic at times but I had some good battles with some established drivers and brought it home in P12.

“I’ve got to say a big thank you to everyone at Speedworks Motorsport for all of their support, as well as Jade Edwards and Josh Cook who have helped prepare and then coach me through the weekend. It’s been a really positive first event and I can’t wait to take another step forward at Knockhill.”

The 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season continues in two weekends at Knockhill on the 16-17 August.

Tom Ingram claims top spot for Team VERTU

Tom Ingram claimed the lead in the race for the Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship title after a fine weekend at Croft saw Team VERTU secure no fewer than five podium finishes.

Heading into the weekend second in the points for the EXCELR8-run team, Tom Ingram bagged a third win of the campaign in a pair of podiums, whilst both Tom Chilton and Senna Proctor also climbed onto the rostrum.

Whilst Adam Morgan just missed out on silverware, he enjoyed arguably his best weekend at the circuit to date to gain ground in the championship standings.

Proctor and Morgan would both drop out in Q2 - with Proctor eighth and Morgan twelfth - before Ingram blitzed to his second straight pole in the Quick Six session. Chilton would actually set a quicker lap time before being penalised for a track limits infringement and would have to settle for fourth on the grid.

After heavy morning rain, conditions had dried enough for slick tyres for the start, with Ingram, Chilton and Proctor all going for the soft compound rubber.

The 2022 Champion nailed the start to retain the lead despite the best efforts of Dan Cammish off the line and was able to control proceedings from the front to bag a comfortable win despite a late caution period eradicating his lead.

With chief rival Ash Sutton suffering a puncture and failing to score, that moved Ingram to the championship lead ahead of race two.

Behind, an astonishing start for Proctor saw him rocket up the order to sit third by the end of the opening lap and from there he was able to keep Daniel Rowbottom at bay for his first podium since returning to the grid, with Chilton close behind in fifth spot having been forced to run wide across the chicane on the opening lap.

Given his tough qualifying session, Morgan took the decision to run the hard tyre at the first opportunity and fought hard to bring his car home in tenth spot - leaving him as the highest placed driver on that tyre.

Now running the hard tyre, Ingram was able to retain the lead at the start of the second race but would ultimately be unable to match the pace of the majority of the field, who were out on track on the soft rubber.

Although he kept hold of a podium spot in the early stages, the #80 would be shuffled back to eighth at the finish, with Proctor also suffering from the switch of tyres.

After a coming together at Sunny Out early on, Proctor was running in 15th at the flag, but a ten-second penalty for exceeding track limits meant he was classified back in 19th.

Instead, it was Chilton who upheld the Team VERTU honours as he fought his way through to second in the early stages to earn his spot on the podium, with Morgan also impressing as he rose to fourth spot to bag more solid championship points to add to his tally.

The reverse grid draw saw Ingram line up on the front row for the weekend finale, and a solid start saw him make a move for the lead around the outside into turn one, where contact with Aiden Moffat’s BMW tipped him into a wild slide that dropped him back to third.

Sitting third after an early safety car, Ingram dispatched title rival Sutton for second spot but was then baulked behind Moffat, which allowed Sutton to pass the pair. The #80 would eventually work his way back to second by the finish to ensure he holds an eight-point lead in the standings.

Behind, Proctor produced an astonishing drive to follow Ingram home in third place despite starting back in 19th on the grid. On the soft tyre, he got away well off the line to make up places and then vaulted up the order when he avoided the incident that brought out the safety car.

At one stage, moving ahead of Ingram on track as the pair worked to clear Moffat’s BMW, Proctor slotted in behind his team-mate to take his second podium of the weekend, with Morgan rounding out a strong race as he crossed the line in fifth place.

That allowed him to move up into the top six in the standings, level on points with Chilton, who was on the hard tyre but was still able to end his weekend with an eighth-place finish.

Tom Chilton, #3 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “It’s been a great weekend with three races inside the top eight, particularly after what happened in practice when for whatever reason, the car just didn’t want to go right at turn one and I ended up in the barriers.

“Credit to the team for getting it turned round quickly for qualifying as we did well there, and had the pace for pole without the track limits issue. We carried that pace into Sunday, bagged some silverware and have moved up a place in the championship which is a great way to start the second half of the year.

“If anything, the pleasing bit was such a strong result on the hard tyre in race three as I was aiming for somewhere in the points and to get eighth was amazing - I don’t think we could have asked for much more. Over the summer break I had my eyes on the top three in the standings, and this weekend has moved us a little closer.”

Senna Proctor, #18 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “The only thing I can be disappointed with this weekend is that we didn’t execute race two on the hard tyre as well as we could have done, but to come away from my home weekend with two podium finishes is an absolute dream.

“Getting onto the podium in race one from eighth on the grid was a really good way to kick things off and I’d have been happy with that for the weekend after race two - my wife actually decided to go home when I was going to be starting the final race back in 18th!

“I was aiming for a top ten but with everything happening ahead, we managed to make up ground to be in the top six after a few laps and then I just had to get my head down and push forwards.

“The car is fantastic and despite missing the first three rounds, we’re almost in the top ten. We just need to keep chipping away and we’ll soon get there.”

Adam Morgan, #33 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “I’ll be totally honest and admit that Croft is a circuit that I’ve never enjoyed coming to because the results have always been unkind to me in the past, but hopefully we’ve turned a corner this weekend.

“Although qualifying didn’t go to plan on Saturday, we made a good call with the strategy in running the hard compound tyre in race one even though it was a challenge in the mixed conditions, and the fact that we managed to bring the car home in tenth then set us up for the final two races.

“We were able to make the most of the pace in the car and having the soft tyre available to remain towards the sharp end and whilst a podium would have been nice, we’ve scored some solid points to move up in the standings. Considering this has traditionally been my worst circuit, I can’t complain at that.”

Tom Ingram, #80 Team VERTU Hyundai i30 Fastback N, said: “We had a blinder of a weekend and with how the car and how the results have gone for us, it’s been a bit of a perfect storm really.

“The opening race of the weekend where we got the win and Ash had his problem is one of those where you have to really capitalise when the chance is there as we are never going to beat him in every race in the same way he isn’t going to beat us. Sometimes you have to admit defeat and sometimes you have to go on the attack, and that was a chance for us to attack.

“We did what we could to minimise our losses in race two, although obviously it’s a bit disappointing that we lost some points to Ash in the final race, particularly as I’d got the move done on him but then got caught up behind Aiden. However, given that the race around us was complete and utter carnage, I’m glad we came out of relatively unscathed!

“Coming in behind, we leave ahead with a big swing in the points, so it’s been a good weekend.”

Justina Williams, Team VERTU Team Owner, said:
“We were confident that Croft would be a strong weekend for us but to come away from it with five podium finishes is beyond expectations. All four drivers have done a fantastic job, and we’re delighted to have reclaimed the championship lead on the back of another win.

“As I’ve said before, there is still a long way to go until anything is won but are confident about the remainder of the season.”

DeLeon puts WSR on podium at Croft

Daryl DeLeon put WSR back on the podium at Croft on an intense day of Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship racing on Sunday.

The Cambridgeshire-based racer, who celebrated his 20th birthday a day earlier, was on inspired form in North Yorkshire as he scored his second rostrum result of 2025 and bagged a brace of Jack Sears Trophy (JST) wins to maintain his category advantage.

DeLeon had already marked himself as one to watch on race day as he climbed from 10th on the grid to sixth by the race one chequered flag, aided by a well-judged getaway in his BMW 330i M Sport.

Taking advantage of the opening race’s top three finishers being mandated to start the second bout on the hard-compound Goodyear tyres, the Brands Hatch race winner surged forwards through the 15-lap encounter.

The Anglo-Filippino moved into third place just before half-distance with a well-judged move at the final corner and never looked threatened afterwards as he scored his second career podium.

That was his second JST win of the day. He was eliminated in the closing fixture of the weekend – an innocent victim after stablemate Charles Rainford and Dan Cammish came together at the complex with the latter unable to slow whilst on the grass.

DeLeon's misfortune opened the door for the LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR driver, Rainford, to take his second JST event victory – and his first since Brands Hatch in May.

The #99’s 47-point haul was seven more than the #2 and came as a result of eighth, sixth and 13th-place finishes overall for the Sussex racer.

The BTCC rookie constantly moved forwards from his starting positions  and made it up to second place within the first few corners of race three as he and team-mate Aiden Moffat circulated in one-two formation.

As rapid as his opening lap was, the front-running duo was short lived. Contact led to him dropping down the order on the second tour and lost further ground from being spun at the hairpin later on.

Moffat, meanwhile, achieved his best weekend points haul since the Donington Park opener. The #16 superbly finished 13th – three places higher than he started – in the opening contest whilst using the hard tyre.

The Scotsman ten progressed well to ninth in race two and was then drawn on pole position for the finale’s partially-reversed grid.

Despite a firm, but fair, defence of his position, Moffat would lose his lead at the end of opening lap, continuing to fall come two-thirds distance. That dropped him to sixth, which was still his best finish of the weekend and will spur him on to even more in two weeks’ time when he races on home soil at Knockhill.

Daryl De Leon, WSR: “I’d call it a good weekend. We had strong results in races one and two with sixth and a podium, but it’s been an unfortunate end after I was caught in an incident in race three that meant I had to retire. We’ve made a step forwards with performance so we’re heading in the right direction. A huge thank you to WSR for all the work they’ve put into the season so far.”

Charles Rainford, LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR: “It’s been a good day. The BMW’s been fast so thanks to WSR for putting me back at the sharp end. We’ve had some good results, taken the Jack Sears Trophy win and had a very entertaining Race Three. Getting up to second on the hard tyre was great. I knew I was always going to fall back, but to do that and be spun around and still recover to win the JST was a nice achievement. We’ll go to Knockhill with our heads held high.”

Aiden Moffat, LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR: “We were fighting at the front, which was nice, but it was ultimately a frustrating end to the day. Tom [Ingram] got me on my right-rear wheel, which let Ash [Sutton] by for the lead, but I thought we were still on for a podium..."

Dick Bennetts, Team Principal: “You could call today ‘mixed’. On the one hand we’ve had some encouraging performances from all three drivers, who have been able to go forwards whenever they were on the soft tyre, Daryl’s finished on the podium with a very good drive in race two and Charles has taken the Jack Sears Trophy win overall. I’m disappointed for Aiden, who defended his position well and thoroughly deserved to finish on the podium in the last race, but we’ve seen enough from the BMW today to feel like we’ve made some progress and hopefully we can do more at Knockhill.”

BTCC title race heats up at Croft

Tin top stars entertain as BTCC blasts back into action

The 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship resumed at Croft this weekend (2/3 August) following its annual mid-season break and it proved to be an absolute classic as the title race swung one way and then the other.

A duel between four-time champion Ash Sutton and 2022 supremo Tom Ingram had been brewing during the first half of the campaign and it was further fuelled in North Yorkshire.

A victory apiece for Ingram and Sutton – with Dan Rowbottom claiming the other – grabbed the headlines, but that doesn’t begin to tell the full story on a day that began with rain before breaking out into glorious sunshine.

Team VERTU’s Ingram now leads the standings from Sutton by eight points with a fight for third overall currently being played out by NAPA Racing UK team-mates Rowbottom and Dan Cammish.

Alliance Racing/Ford and its NAPA Racing UK outfit hold sway in both the Manufacturers’/Constructors’ and Teams’ standings, whilst the Independents’ battle sees Mikey Doble leading the Drivers’ and Restart Racing topping the Teams’ orders.

WSR’s Daryl DeLeon had a 20th birthday weekend to remember as an overall podium helped maintain his lead in the Jack Sears Trophy.

The BTCC is back on track at Knockhill in Scotland in two weeks' time (16/17 August).

Ingram leads championship after race one win

Team VERTU’s Ingram took the first victory after the mid-season break, leading home heroes Cammish and Senna Proctor in the North Yorkshire opener.

Ingram led from start-to-finish, keeping Cammish at arm's length, as well as dealing with a late safety car period to claim his third triumph of the season.

The #80 Hyundai i30N was the cream of the crop throughout the contest as Ingram moved into the championship lead, whilst title rival Sutton hit trouble.

Cammish closed in on Ingram in the early stages before the latter stretched the gap out for a comfortable success, whilst Team VERTU's Proctor wowed his local fans with a stellar podium.

Incredibly, Proctor went from eighth to third on the opening lap with a move by NAPA Racing UK's Rowbottom being a particular highlight.

Rowbottom held on to fourth from Team VERTU's Tom Chilton, whilst WSR's DeLeon starred in sixth.

Rowbottom roars to maiden Croft triumph

NAPA Racing UK’s Rowbottom took his third triumph of the season with a breakthrough victory at Croft in the second bout of the day.

The Ford Focus man made his way forward from fourth on the grid, as he picked off the leading three cars one-by-one in the early running.

With the race one rostrum runners forced to take the Goodyear hard tyre for race two, Rowbottom made light work of Team VERTU's Proctor and team-mate Cammish in the sister Ford Focus.

Leader Ingram didn't put up too much of a fight as he let Rowbottom and Team VERTU team-mate Tom Chilton through into first and second respectively. Although Chilton looked feisty for a few laps after that, Rowbottom was gradually able to cruise clear for victory.

Behind the lead duo was the popular DeLeon, who celebrated his 20th birthday weekend with a fantastic podium, which followed his top six finish in the opener.

Young gun DeLeon took a maiden BTCC victory in his WSR BMW 330i M Sport at Brands Hatch earlier in the season, and in terms of pace, Croft represented his most competitive weekend since then.

Team VERTU's Adam Morgan quietly went about his business to claim fourth, whilst drive of the contest went to the NAPA Racing UK Ford Focus of Sutton.

Sutton – starting from the rear of the field following his puncture in the earlier race – had made his way up to 12th after just a few laps, and he continued hustling until the chequered flag as he grabbed further positions on the run to a top five finish.

Sutton wins BTCC barnstormer

Four-time champion Sutton stood victorious after one of the most incredible races in memory as the action at Croft was rounded out in unforgettable style.

It's almost impossible to note everything that took place around the 2.13-mile circuit, but the relentless action kicked off almost immediately as Ingram's Team VERTU Hyundai endured a wild slide following contact with the BMW of pole-sitter Aiden Moffat on the opening tour.

LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Moffat defended valiantly in the early exchanges with a whole gaggle of cars running two and sometimes three wide.

It felt like something had to give and sure enough it did as the sister BMW of Charles Rainford touched the car of NAPA Racing UK's Cammish as they approached the Complex. Cammish's Ford Focus slid across the grass before re-entering the track and slamming into the WSR BMW of DeLeon.

The incident also took out Restart Racing's Chris Smiley, as well as hampering others, and the inevitable safety car was scrambled with stricken machines needing to be retrieved.

The action restarted with Ingram shuffling past Sutton but still finding Moffat an immovable object up ahead, as Gordon Shedden’s TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA Corolla joined the party in a four-way fight for victory.

Then came the incredible moment – almost inexplainable in its completion – as Sutton came from third at the final hairpin, had contact with Shedden's #52 machine in the process of the move, as the four-time champ then somehow sliced his Ford Focus down the inside of Ingram's Hyundai and Moffat's BMW to emerge in front.

It was a barnstorming and breathtaking move as Sutton romped on to victory ahead of title rival Ingram.

Moffat's podium was scuppered following contact with Proctor’s Hyundai i30N, as the latter completed the rostrum positions ahead of Shedden and team-mate Morgan.

Tom Ingram, Team VERTU, said: “Great result. Team VERTU did a brilliant job. The summer break was really positive for us; we made a lot of little tweaks to continue refining and optimising every aspect of the Hyundai. The car felt just superb, as it does every weekend thanks to the fantastic job done by Team VERTU. Every circuit we turn up to, it seems to be in a really good place.”

Dan Rowbottom, NAPA Racing UK, said: “It was good. The soft tyre didn’t quite turn on as quickly as I hoped and I was briefly stuck behind Dan (Cammish), but once we got through it was relatively straightforward. I did have a vibration on the front left and I was desperately just hoping that the tyre would hang on, but I’m happy with that – third win of the season.”

Ash Sutton, NAPA Racing UK, said: “It was a typical BTCC race – really really good from our side, to beat Tom (Ingram) and get some of those points back. I think both Gordon (Shedden) and I had the same idea at the same time with that move, but somehow, we came through. So important to get the win. They say it’s the bad weekends that win you championships, and really this was a bad weekend for us, so we’ll take that.”

Sutton wins BTCC barnstormer

Ash Sutton stood victorious after one of the most incredible Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship races in memory as the action at Croft was rounded out in unforgettable style.

It's almost impossible to note everything that took place around the 2.13-mile circuit, but the relentless action kicked off almost immediately as Tom Ingram's Team VERTU Hyundai endured a wild slide following contact with pole-sitter Aiden Moffat on the opening tour.

LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR's Moffat defended valiantly in the early exchanges with a whole gaggle of cars running two and sometimes three wide.

It felt like something had to give and sure enough it did as the sister BMW of Charles Rainford touched NAPA Racing UK's Dan Cammish as they approached the Complex. Cammish's Ford Focus slid across the grass before re-entering the track and slamming into the WSR BMW of Daryl DeLeon.

The incident also took out Restart Racing's Chris Smiley, as well as delaying others, as the inevitable safety car was scrambled with stricken machines needing to be retrieved.

The action restarted with Ingram shuffling past Sutton but still finding Moffat an immovable object up ahead, as Gordon Shedden's TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA Corolla joined the party in a four-way fight for victory.

Then came the incredible moment – almost inexplainable in its completion – as Sutton came from third at the final hairpin, had contact with Shedden's #52 machine in the process of the move, as the four-time champ then somehow slid his Ford Focus down the inside of Ingram's Hyundai and Moffat's BMW to emerge in front.

It was a barnstorming and breathtaking moment as Sutton romped on to victory ahead of title rival Ingram, who himself had to get by team-mate Senna Proctor as the two exchanged positions midway through the contest.

Moffat's podium was scuppered following contact with Proctor's Hyundai i30N, as the latter completed the rostrum positions ahead of Shedden and team-mate Adam Morgan.

Scotsman Moffat held on to sixth ahead of an impressive run from NAPA Racing UK's Sam Osborne, as Tom Chilton (Team VERTU), Árón Taylor-Smith (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) and Mikey Doble (Motor Parts Direct with Power Maxed Racing) completed the top ten positions.

Rowbottom roars to maiden Croft triumph

Daniel Rowbottom took his third triumph of the 2025 Kwik Fit British Touring Car Championship season with a breakthrough victory at Croft in the second bout of the day.

The NAPA Racing UK man made his way forward from fourth on the grid, as he picked off the leading three cars one-by-one in the early running.

With the race one rostrum runners forced to take the Goodyear hard tyre for race two, Rowbottom made light work of Team VERTU's Senna Proctor and team-mate Dan Cammish in the sister Ford Focus.

Leader Tom Ingram didn't put up too much of a fight as he let Rowbottom and Team VERTU team-mate Tom Chilton through into first and second respectively. Although Chilton looked feisty for a few laps after that, Rowbottom was gradually able to cruise clear for victory.

Behind the lead duo was the popular Daryl DeLeon, who celebrated his 20th birthday weekend with a fantastic podium, which followed his top six finish in the opener.

Young gun DeLeon took a maiden BTCC victory in his WSR BMW 330i M Sport at Brands Hatch earlier in the season and Croft has so far represented his most competitive weekend since then.

Team VERTU's Adam Morgan quietly went about his business to claim fourth, whilst drive of the contest went to NAPA Racing UK's Ash Sutton in fifth.

Sutton – starting from the rear of the field following his puncture in the earlier race – had made his way up to 12th after just a few laps, and he continued hustling until the chequered flag as he grabbed further positions on the run to a top five finish.

Charles Rainford (LKQ Euro Car Parts Racing with WSR) and Gordon Shedden (TOYOTA GAZOO Racing UK with IAA) were sixth and seventh, whilst Ingram eventually had to settle for eighth.

Aiden Moffat took ninth, and with it pole position for the reverse grid race later today, with Cammish completing the top ten classification.

The final race of the day is scheduled to take place at 1710 with all the action currently being beamed LIVE on ITV4.

Fans around the world can also get their BTCC fix with every race being broadcast LIVE – see the BTCC TV page for the listings in your region.
