Dunlop: title sponsor

Tyre manufacturer Dunlop returned as title sponsor of the MSA British Touring Car Championship from 2010 through to the end of the 2016 season.

Dunlop was previously title sponsor from 2005 to 2007 and this latest agreement means the BTCC’s relationship with the Goodyear-Dunlop group will extend to 11 consecutive years with Dunlop having been the championship’s official tyre supplier since 2003.

Dunlop is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of ultra-high performance tyres with an impressive track record of motor sport successes, including 34 wins in the Le Mans 24 Hours race. In addition to the BTCC, other touring car championships such as the German DTM and Australian V8 Supercar Championship rely on Dunlop performance.

Meanwhile, the company’s partnership with the BTCC has led to pioneering tyre technology being developed with the introduction in 2009 of a world-first RFID system being introduced. In 2013, all BTCC teams will also race on Dunlop’s Sport Maxx BTCC tyre built to 18 and 17-inch sizes for use by the newer NGTC and older S2000 types of car on the grid. In 2013 company also produced a special soft compound 18-inch ‘joker tyre’ which every NGTC car must use in one race at each event on the calendar. This will continue throughout 2014, while there will also be an updated construction for the tyre to add even more excitement to the racing.

Further afield, Dunlop’s extensive racing experience has led to innovative technologies for tyres designed for everyday motoring. Always looking to maximise driving pleasure, Dunlop offers all types of motorists the performance and durability of the latest tyre technologies, including tyres with RunOnFlat technology, which is fitted to award winning vehicles such as the Mini, BMW One, Three, Five Series and X5.

Many of the world’s leading vehicle manufacturers including Alfa Romeo, AMG, Audi, Bentley, BMW, Jaguar, Lexus, Mercedes-Benz and Porsche fit Dunlop as standard. The latest Dunlop Sport Maxx TT road tyre features a motor sport-inspired Kevlar construction for maximum steering feel, feedback and precision.
